So I was reading on http://qpower.com/ and it states that no leading synthetic oil delivers more horspower.
This is 5w30 vs 5w30
Wouldnt that mean that there 5w30 is thinner then the leading synthetics?
Because I dont see how else they could claim to get more horspower other then if there oil was thinner. I was always under the assumption that the thinner the oil the easier it was for the engine to spin.

To be honest, anyone can claim anything if properly worded so as to avoid a lawsuit sometime, somewhere from someone who didn't get 110% of exactly what the product said that it would give.

Check out the specs on viscosity and see if it is indeed a little thinner at operating temps, then that COULD be one reason for a LITTLE more power.

No other leading synthetic 5W-30 oil delivers less, either.

It's just words....marketing words vs. real words...

Quote:

* Outstanding control of power-robbing deposits.
* Exceptional resistance to thermal and viscosity breakdown.
* Great protection against engine wear, oil shearing, harmful deposits and acids.
* Excellent resistance to engine stress at high RPMs.
* Superb protection for turbocharged and supercharged engines.

Somewhat non-quantitative words.

That flash point for 0w20's gotta be off. I hope that that is just a misprint...224 vs. 440 for most everything else, including the 5w20.

I bought Q Power Truck & SUV 5W30 for the last OCI because all of the PP bottles were leaking everywhere. There is, not surprisingly, absolutely no noticeable increase in power. The truck does idle very smoothy though...

It's still darn good oil. No consumption after 4K of current OCI - and that's dropping down from 5W-30 to 5W-20 in my S-10 4.3 engine. This is the first time that's happened in my last several OCIs that included Syntec, Platinum, Supertech and Mobil-1.

i just saw a commercal for it.
they said its ferrari approved BECAUSE it delivers more power. that doesnt make sence, then again i havent seen any ferrari tests. maybe they test oils for power loss?

It does meet a lot of European specs. so I'm sure it's good stuff. I didn't know they made a 0w-20 Q Horsepower Oil? It's only 8.3 cSt @ 100C so probably good fuel economy.

I love how they tout the Ferrari connection when the stuff is just repacked 5W-40 or 10W-60 Shell Helix...

Bitogers don't seem to run QS as much as the rest of America...I believe QS is right behind Pennzoil in sales...Most Americans have not been educated here at BITOG either...QS's adveritising sure hit a homerun with this "Ferrari" thing...Nothing wrong with the oil I guess...but it's Shell Helix...not Q...well I guess now it is...

Camu, true but at the same time we don't know how good/average QHorsepower is because no one has tried it.

If the oils meet the specs shown, I'd say it's say it's a good oil.

You've been had by the marketing folks. Time for some critical thinking here.

Saying "no other oil delivers more power" does not mean Q Horsepower delivers more power. It also is true if all oils deliver exactly the same power.

Although their marketing people don't mind if you should happen to 'misinterpret' that statement in that way.

Horsepower has nothing to do with oil. Oil sitting in the bottle has no potential energy that a combustion engine can use so the statement is pointless. Some oils may provide better lubrication that increases the efficiency of the engine, but doesn't add horsepower anymore than a lighter set of wheels will.

Ford once advertised that they had the highest low end torque in class. The fine print explained that they had the highest percentage of peak torque at an extrememly low rpm. They claimed something like 85% of max torque at 1,100 rpm while other brands only had 75% at the same rpm. The joke was that the Ford had a significantly lower peak torque. This was for the new generation F-150 a few years back, the advertising was a bit shady in my opinion. The trucks are probbaly OK, but the ads had a lot of fine print.

I think they messed up their F's and C's
