I have some Castrol Edge 5W-50 with Syntec I got on a sale. I put it in the freezer along with some Supertech 5w30 and various other oils.

The Castrol Edge seems much more viscous at the freezer's temperature, which is about 0 degrees F. relative to the other oils. When I shake the bottle it is like honey. Even Castrol GTX 10w30 has it beat.

Any comments?

Even though its a 5w50, the 50w oil is much thicker. That's just like mobil 1 0w40, it is thicker than most 5w30s until very low temps.
You got to look at the viscosies along with the VI and that shows the real story.

It`s definitely *thinner* than a 20W50 though. It seems to shake and pour like a 10W30. I`ve been using it the past two oci`s,and it pours through the funnel like water, whereas a conventional 20w50 does not. Another plus, since I started using it,my oil leak has stopped. I plan on using it for the life of the car as long as I can find it,and at a good price.
