I was reading about the ingredients of a few oils on line and I got to thinking that between two 5w30 oils let's say PYB and Super Teck synthetic there seems to be little difference in what they offer so let's take a look.
ST. PYB. (Both 5w30 the ST is synthetic the PYB is conventional)
CA. 2,367 2,408
Mag. 9 7
PH. 706 727
Zink. 838 868
Moly. 1 269
Boron. 198 109
TBN. 8.0 8.3
Vis@100c. 10.9 10.52
Vis@40c. 62.0 62.61
Vis@-30c. 4,576. 6,077
Vol. 11.3 12.4
Price at WM as of Aug 20, 2016 .... ST is $4.97 per quart and PYB is $4.24 per quart.
Now for my question.... For a person who changes there oil say every 5,000 miles just what are you going to gain by going to a cheep synthetic oil over a premium conventional oil? Looking at the numbers both oils are real close will a car or truck ever know the difference? Do you think it will really matter over the life of the vehicle?
Just wondering what your thoughts are on this.
