In what vehicle, driving conditions , cold temps ? For example a turbo WRX requires the syn and chews thru them , and dinos before syn was required, as do other engines. Not enough info.

What is 2+. I never saw any memo saying there was a change in the baeestock grading system.
Try them both,do a used oil analysis and use the one that lasts the longest in service.

Pyb uses group 2+ and I believe Chevron Delo also uses it. Everything else in my memory for conventional use group 2. I don't remember exactly, just thought I'd add that.
As for the OP: Its hard to say which would perform better but the bang for the buck looks like Super tech.

With a 5-6K change, and if your vehicle allows, I would use $12 ST conventional.
Supertech synthetic should have more group 3 content. I would be going with that or step up to PP.

i always liked pennzoil the only reason i use my bulk oil is because its so much cheaper.. Their syn blend dexos seems to be great oil the price is creeping up though. Just like the Quaker State Ultimate Durability that is good oil but it hit $22.00 so we have been using super tech syn at the shop on the engines that require synthetic, My brother just picked up 22 5qt containers of super tech syn that was all they had.

Next time you're at Walmart, check the [renamed] Supertech stuff. There is now a synthetic up here. I must say I'm no fan of the new labels and name, though.

The Super Tech syn 5w30 meets GM's old 4718M (the pre-dexos high performance standard for Corvettes and Cadillacs), which is supposedly actually more stringent than dexos1.
What car is this going into?
Unless your engine is turbo and/or DI, Pennzoil conventional should be fine for 5-6k. Even SuperTech conventional would work for a 5k OCI in many cases.

If you check out AZ, AAP or Pep Boys you will find a Pennzoil, Castrol, Mobil, QS, Havoline on sale for about the same as Super Tech synthetic regular price.
One of the main reasons for switching to synthetic is longer oil change intervals, but even the Super Tech fans don't run the Super Tech syn as long as they would a name brand oil.
Since you are changing your oil and need a filter anyway, I would go with the a Pennzoil Conventional and filter deal which I think is on sale at AAP.

I'm not a fan of the weak additive pack in the SuperTech line up, but I would imagine both oils lasting to 7k miles max for TBN. A super cheap synthetic vs high quality conventional. Good topic lol. I really can't decide what I would do. Depends on the weather I guess.
Please see Super Tech synthetic VOA SN rated specs at PQIA - nothing weak about the add pack I can see except perhaps TBN .
