Has anyone on here used the combination of PYB (Pennzoil Yellow Bottle) and MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) together? If so, do you have any kind of test results, even if only a UOA (Used Oil Analysis)?
Thank you
I've used them together many times for myself and for friends. Sorry I don't have pictures, compression tests, or a UOA. So you'll have to take my word, sorry.
Anyway over 35+ years I have used it, and PYB was my favorite Dino oil, in fact it still is. I have silenced lifters, cleaned engines, and got a lot of buddies of mine using it over the years. These pages are probably scattered with my MMO stories, LOL someone PM'ed me and called me the MMO Czar.
If you are thinking of trying it with PYB, it is a great combo. PM me if you like Johnny and tell me what you are trying to accomplish and I will be happy to give you info and not bore members with it. LOL
You live in the wrong place to be a Czar.

Up to nothing. Upon MY recommendation, a friend at church changed the oil in his wife's 2007 Accord and his 2006 Civic using PYB 5W-20. That's great, no problem. What I did not know is that on another persons recommendation from where he works, he substituted 1-quart of oil for 1-quart of MMO in the Accord, and 1/2-quart of oil for 1/2-quart of MMO in the Civic. Now I have to be politically correct now and bite my tongue, as I do not want to say anything bad about his friend at work, especially since I also know this person and consider him a friend. I am between the rock and the hard place, so to speak. Personally, I did not nor would not recommend this. He will be changing his oil in 5K.
Nothing wrong with either car. Both engines clean and run great. This was not for some kind of fix and was not done just before an oil change, this was done with the oil change for the duration of the oil change. I did just tell him to be sure and check the oil level on a regular basis to be sure it stayed full.
I've used the combination recently (1qt MMO + PYB) but didn't do any UOA testing. Used it on a VERY abused Ford Escort GT with HEAVY sludge (I used a putty knife to scoop out some sludge from the valve cover and top of the cylinder head). The engine had developed a pronounced lifter rap. After idling for 20-30 minutes with this combo, the lifter noise went away. Took the car on a highway drive for a few hours and then dumped the oil/filter and replaced with PYB + 16oz MMO. The stuff that came out looked like the chocolate stuff you'd pour on an ice cream sundae. My friend recently changed the oil again (also black, but no longer the thick goopy mess it was last time) and is now running PP w/out MMO. Valvetrain noise is still gone.
Would I do this to a relatively new/clean engine? No.
If it was my car or my friend, I'd probably tell them to dump it after a couple thousand miles and skip the MMO next time since there isn't really any "problem" to solve here.
Best,
