If they are comfortable with back specing oil, so am I.

Since they replied to me that they "never officially executed" the TSB, and are telling me 5w30, what could the repercussions be? (forget about warranty, etc)

If they are no participating in the xW-20 fad on your engine, then it's safe to assume they have a reason not to.

Wow. Never thought I'd be "abusing" any of my vehicles.
Might have to see what Xw30s I can find, or if the good ol' GC is around again.
Any recommendations on Xw30s?

Well, yes and no. On some 2AZ-FEs, they show Xw20.
On some, Xw30.

My poor choice of words mislead you. You aren't abusing it but your oil may increase wear somewhat but the engine will not permanently suffer from one OCI of 0W-20. I say forget 0w30 oils, use Castrol Edge 5w30 which is on the thin side of the range. I'm no fan of GC nor M1 0W-30.

i am going to use M1 0-20 in ford focus 5-20 engine and sleep like a baby...i also used 5-30 and engine ran great

What did you not like about GC?
If I DO switch out, I'm either going back to RP or will try the ever so in-vogue Ultra from the Pennz kids...

My experiences with GC were reduced gas mileage, increased oil consumption, and inability to clean already-present deposits. I used it in multiple vehicles: VW 1.8T, Infiniti G35, Honda Civic. Your results may vary.

I used it too. No issues, but too hard to find...
