It's just property damage not personal assault. Once you involve physical aggression or wave/threaten weapons you are becoming an aggressor. The guy was not threatening his life.

Welcome to the world of Dr Dr. Raymond Cocteau. It will be a cold day in Hades before I stand there and watch some A hole damage my stuff and do nothing.
I couldn't look at myself in the mirror without feeling like a spineless wonder. The loss of self respect is worse than any damage.

Take peek at this dirt bag who also a mean Parker and old man turned into agressor situation.
http://whdh.com/news/woman-records-video...-in-swampscott/

The idiot parker gets $100 fine for violation and zip for knocking the aggressive poor old man on his rear. Just saying while you may feel better the eyes of law see it differently.

Pulls that show on the wrong person's car and he'd also be missing a few teeth afterward...

I go out of my way to find a spot to avoid getting my vehicles dinged. If someone is intentionally vandalizing my vehicle and I see them odds are I will be going to jail. There would be no peaceful option unfortunately.

Merk, quarter panels are very much so replaceable. Not bolt on, but there’s multiple ways to cut them off and weld in a new piece and you can’t see the difference.

My dad’s done body work for 30 years and I’ve seen him replace several of them.

This is very correct. I had a 1/4 panel done on my Mustang after a Super Duty went straight from a right turn only lane into me. The work was done by an outstanding body shop and you cannot tell anything has been repaired.

After I retrieve my iPhone and get the lighting and angles right, I'll ask him to smile for the camera while he's doing it.

Although this in no way OP's fault, I would never have parked there. Those spaces are ridiculously narrow. The chance of NOT getting a door ding there are almost nothing, unless the other driver is extremely careful, which I would never assume. Plus backing out the space with the trucks on either side is risky business.

Give it 5-7 years.

+1 Some doofus had already parked a huge truck where it doesn't fit, and the driver's door is on your side. If you park there the door will almost certainly hit your car when he tries to get in. Stay away from that.

That and park further from the store.

Anything near the cart corral seems like a poor option to me. People in a hurry often just aim their carts towards the corral and then run away. Some push their carts into the aisles next to the corrals. I don't want anything to do with that.

Parking near carts makes no sense to me as a gust of wind can push those right into your car. Seen it happen too often. If some bozo in a super-beater come by they won't care about knocking that free cart...and sending it towards your car.

Parking far away is the best answer. Though understand there are nasty people who take great glee in purposely parking up close to such cars for their own brand of "teaching a lesson." Though I have no clue what lesson they are trying to teach.

Sounds like the guy needs a good ol fashioned posterior whuppin...

I believe in your state any damage more the $1000 dollars with intent is a felony.

Man, that guy did a lot a damage to your car, exceeding the amount that would be considered a felony since you said he did this deliberately. Did the guy think he was going to get away with this or something? People do things that just don't make any sense.

Sorry you are having to go through this. I hope everything works out for you.

How and why would his insurance company pay for intentional damages?
