Purolator Support Tube Holes

Hello,
I was looking at a couple of Purolator oil filters that I have and noticed that the holes on the support tube do not appear to be open very much. I am not an oil filter expert so I would like to know if this looks normal to you. I compared two Purolator filters, a Pureone (yellow), and the other a Purolator One (blue). I attached four images to this post. The first two (Images 1 and 2) are from the new Purolator One filter and the last two (Images 3 and 4) are from the older Pureone. I am sorry for the poor image quality as it was difficult to shine a light and be able to fit the camera in there too.

(When I was at the store I looked into a Fram filter and the holes on the Fram seemed much larger.) Thanks for your help.

The picture quality in photo #2 isn't very good, but from what I can see in #1, they appear fine.

The filter in photos #3 & 4 appear to be fine also.

Holes are much larger, but there are not near as many as louvers. Not even close.

drilled holes are more likely to have loose metal shavings attached than louvers.

Dont use Purolator..problem solved.

Not sure if they all are going to louvers, but get a supertech filter for under 3$ at WM.

The louvers in filter #2 look better than in filter #1. I wouldn't use filter #1. I might use filter #2 if they were all at least that opened up.

I went through this with another brand: If you cut off the filter media, you would see there is plenty of area for oil to go through. The filter is fine.

Same with my M1 post but there will always be concern since they don't always face the best perfs towards the base.

If you are talking about the central core metal tube, the holes would be punched and not drilled, thus no shavings are likely to occur. That's just he cheapest/fastest way to make them which should work very well.

True, but there's a (hypothetical, at least) risk of hanging chad with punched holes.

those junk purolator filters had my engine ticking . never again !
