Hi again!

I am really enjoying this. Second filter cut here. This PL2250 came off of my 2014 Explorer Base with the 3.5 V6 NA. 5k and Valvoline Maxlife SynBlend 5W20 is my standard OCI. This filter looks fine as well. I was worried about what I would find after all of the C&Ps of Purolator and Motorcraft filters.

The ADBV was way more pliable than the Motorcraft’s. I really don’t get why the ADBV is so important to people unless their filter is mounted base plate down. The metal shaving in the bottom of the can is from my inexperience with cutting.

Thank you for feedback and enjoy!

It has good pleat spacing, with is a factor that effects media tearing or not. The ADBV is important regardless of how the filter is orientated, because the ADBV prevents any oil in the galleries above the filter from drianing out when the engine is shut off. It's a long standing misconception that the ADBV is only important in certain filter orientations.

I see. Thank you for the education (y). A basic Google search showed me that it was to keep oil in the filter when not in use and that's all I had ever known about it.

Looks good. Tight uniform pleat spacing, seam pleat area also quite good.

As for adbv, if the vehicle manufacturer specs one no matter the filter orientation I take it they know best and do so for a reason. That said, even if adbv is somehow compromised but no noticeable start up rattle heard, it may not be critical. IME, some vehicles/engines are more susceptible to start up rattle making the adbv function more critical.

Thanks for c&p.
