Hopefully I'll have some time this evening to remove the end caps and remove the core to get a closer look at the media. Purolator claims its a 15K mile filter and thats exactly what I did. Three oil changes with this filter and your right from the naked eye it looks really good.

How does the other side of the (orange) ADBV look? That's honestly the only issue I've seen with them. It would be nice if Mann finally started deburring the inside of the baseplates!

I saw nothing wrong. Looked very normal. I still have it, so I'll take another look just make sure i didn't miss something.

Nice job on the pictures. The filter media looks excellent; pleats are straight and a medium brown color. Its also a credit to your good maintenance doing 5,000 mile oil changes. On Purolator's' website they claim The Boss is a 20,000 mile filter and by the looks of yours, I think it is! It would be interesting to find a simple engineering test method of the media to see if it could go another 5,000 miles.

My OCI is 6,000 miles and your testing has given me the confidence to use a high mileage filter for multiple oil changes. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments, and I believe your correct that he Boss filter is 20K mile filter from the info on the box now. I think when I purchased this filter Purolator was rating it as a 15K mile filter but I"m not 100% on that. But yes I believe I could have made another 5K mile run and been just fine. And it's not a bad deal from a cost stand point a $13 filter equals to about a $4.50 filter per oil change.
