I bought a L24651 Purolator One filter for my 3.0 liter 2006 Ford Escape. I found some websites recommending the L24651 and others the L2500 for that engine.

Looking at the Purolator website it looks like both would work. The dimensions are similar, but the BPVS of the L24651 is 8-16 and the L22500 is 22. What is BPVS, and will it make much difference?

The part finder tool on Purolatornow.com shows that the PL24651 is for the "Flex FI OHV 12 Valve", while the PL22500 is for the "Gas FI OHV 24 Valve". Which description matches your engine?

The BPVS is the bypass valve setting. A low bypass setting may cause unfiltered oil to bypass the filter element before the filter gets very clogged up. A bypass setting that's too high will cause a larger drop in the engine oil pressure if the filter clogs, which could be dangerous for the engine. I'd use the filter with the lower bypass setting if you're unsure.

Mine has a 3L gas engine. To my knowledge, only that and the 2.3L four-cylinder were available in 2006. I've always seen the six-cylinder referred to as 183CID. I'm not sure what the 182CID is.
