100% self inflicted. I should have known better.

Based on comments on the First Brands bankruptcy thread decided to try the deal from Walmart on these Pure One filters, hoping to get the Korea build.

Most interesting is that these appear to be all the same date code (anyone know how to read it), but louvers are very different. Posted best and worst below. The other two are interestingly sorta in between?

Wonder what to do. Run the best, toss the worst. Return them all (leaning this way)?

I've used that exact P1 model on a couple of my cars before. I don't anymore for that exact reason. Super Tech now becuse an e-core filter never has to say 'sorry, my louvers are closed'.

Yeah that first pic is not stellar. Certainly return that one. I've had to look at some of those as well & always place back the ones that may look a bit low quality. I still use these P1's though, when many scoff, so maybe I'm not the one to ask..

Return them, order some carquest premiums from Advance Auto use the online 15% off coupon. Order like four or five I think and I got free shipping.
Yes, I have a handful of the PG filters already. These were half the price. About the cheapest thing left with a silicon ADBV now that Fram is un-useable.

I might run the two best and return the other two? Undecided?

Disgrace on that first one. Shame on Purolator. All my stashed filters have holes in their cores. I don't trust louvers on any filter. May clog up too easily IMO.

Louvers aren't' going to clog ... they are on the clean side of the media. What's bad about louvers is they can be choked way down if not formed well. Many examples have been shown if various threads over the years.

Pure one poor louvers I’d shoot for target practice.

Glad I sold all my Puro made filters. OG ULTRA/TITANIUM and CQ EP/PREMIUM for life.

Looks fine to me. They are open, and there are many louvers.
A company that ships this product out to the customer is not doing quality manufacturing. I wouldn't trust a single thing about it if they can't get something so simple correct.

That looks like a filter that was designed to "maximize shareholder value." Not one designed to protect your engine.

Those are from 2022, all the ones I just got,the Boss, look good and have late 2024 or 2025 dates. I avoided the One due to influecing me about the black glue on here. But not influenced by the Boss is 46 microns don’t use it theory, not at all. If I see a lot of light spots in the media maybe go along with it, but still feel many are wanting the 46 versus knowing which rating is actually correct, for the one I buy today. I find not one thing wrong with the Boss especially for $8 on Amazon, and made in USA where I live. Heavy, premium oil filter.

What do you think the "correct" Boss efficiency rating is after now seeing two official sources (Purolator and Mann-Hummel) that says it's 99% @ 46u.

That has been discussed many times.
Im not changing my mind for you and vice versa so why can’t you just LET IT GO. Latch on to what you like, I latch to what I like and don’t need to keep defending what I like because it isn’t your way.

Yeah, it's been discussed many times, but seems you don't believe the official efficiency info. I'm just telling it like it is, right from Purolator and Mann-Hummel. Obviously you don't believe or accept their specs. You think they are going to claim it's 99% @ 46u when it's really not that? If you want to "believe" it's better than all the official efficiency sources, then might as well start claiming it's 99.9% at 5u base on a visual light test of the pores in the media. 😄
