Purolator Classic your opinions

Ive had kind of a hard time finding AC Delco pf52's so I decided to use go with a Purolator Classic for my 03' Blazer. Kmart had them for $3.49,and its not a Fram bought from Walmart so that in itself feels good.(both companies kinda evil IMO) Id apreciate anyones 2 cents regaurding the Purolator Classic oil filter.

Good stuff, actually their middle of the road filter. You can go even cheaper with the Powerflo from Advance, $1.99.

Gee, this has NEVER been discussed. I went to get a Purolator air filter for the wife's subaru, and it was labeled on the unit proper " made in china ". I put it back on the shelf and walked out.

They're very good filters. I've used them a number of times and I haven't had a problem with either the Classic or the Premium Plus as it was once called.

I believe OP's question specifically addresses Purolator Classic oil filters, not Purolator air filters.

We use group 7 here at our engine shop they are rebadged purolator plus filters and they seem to be a quality filter we never had a problem... We pay about $1.75 for them but we buy in bulk... I sometimes use pureone also but they are getting to be too much money...

Purolator Classic is a great filter. Good flow and filtration. I use it and have 4 more in my stash. I bought them back in June when AAP had the Purolator Classic and 5 quarts QS conventional on sale for $12.99. That made the price of each filter and quart of oil $2.16 each. Great filter for the price. The filter for my truck says Made in USA right on the side of the filter.

I Used purolators in the past with good luck, though a couple installations had leaky seams (can to baseplate). I find wix works best on my toyota. If I had another car and part # I might prefer purolator in that app. I use Wix and Purolator interchangeably - as long as they are not stamped made in china.

It's way beyond any consumer control at this point. Better check WIX ... they make a lot of their products outside the good 'ol USA too.

fyi the Classic is made in the US, which IIRC is the topic of this thread, not the

air filter comment.

Also, the owner/operator has previously posted that discussion of the product, the Classic in this case, not the country of origin should be the priority. It was you who took it OT with an unrelated comment to the OP's post.

Since the OP mentioned in his 1st post "evil companies" why not bring up Country of Origin for the manufacturer he queried - not terribly far off topic. but I will heartily agree with you, SAYJAC, that we could use some OFF TOPIC police around here - threads tend to meander all over the place and take on a other worldly life of their own. And, if you had happened bring up the country of origin for the OP's queried product, that would be kool. But, that was not the case, thus my response.

Or, if you had said that the Classic had caused VVTi cam phasing issues, noticeable power loss issues, or excessive noise issues, then the OP would have had at least some small morsel of information regarding the queried topic, the Classic.

At least though, it didn't come down to being told that I didn't know the difference between Gallo Jug Burgundy and a 750ml bottle of Seven Deadly ZINS. That would have been the ultimate humilation. I do apologize for the OT here though, just trying to address your concerns.

The Purolator Classic is a good filter with high filtering performance (97.5% @ 20 microns). Good value, solid built filter.

I have used the Purolator Classics on my S10 pickup since AC Delco went to the ecore design. They're good filters, reasonably priced, and made in the USA. What's not to like?

After GM unveiled the Ecores, I looked for another filter. For 3.49 they are hard to beat. The Classics (Grey Box) I have are made in NC and I have almost two cases. I tend to stay away from the Premium Plus (White Box) though that were made in the early two thousands as they have paper ends.

Seriously? ... Purolator was using paper end caps? Hard to believe. I'd have to see a photo of that, and in all the oil filter study websites, I've never seen any Purolator with paper end caps, always metal.
