Two words, they suck! i bought one at advanced for the jeep and i installed it and the fit was terrible. so later that day i was on the internet and was reading about how the gasket is junk so i went down to the car and pulled it out. the gasket didnt fill the gaps in the pleats and when i pull it just a wee bit the gasket peeled right off the paper part. so i took the old fram filter out of the garbage and put it back in the car so i could go and return the puro for another fram air filter.

Fram standard oil filter is not good (for the price) but Fram air filter seems to be better quality than Purolator, Bill in Utah seems to have problem with Purolator fit/finish air filter too.

Please tell us how you really feel.

I think it may be somewhat application dependent.

Normally I use Fram af's for everything. However, because of the airbox design for my Altima, the thick round Fram foam seal makes it more difficult to install without tearing the foam. OTOH, the Purolator looked to be made of a rubbery molded material that also is flatter, and that installation would be easier in that application. It looked like a decently made filter, and the media looked the equal of the Fram.

That said, I'm not as familiar with the Puro af's as I am the oil filters. But, the ones I've looked at for my applications, looked ok. But, with the possible exception of the Altima, no reason to switch from the generally less expensive, readily available Fram at this time.

For a long time the purolator blue filter for my car was the wrong size. I bought a couple over two years and always had to take them back (the white ones fit). Now they fit and I use them. I have had good seals and the filter have held up well over time.

I have never had a problem with the air filters from Purolator. Seems like it has worked well in every application I have used it in.

I have a Fram in now that's due for a replacement soon.

I tried a Purolator cabin air filter in my Hyundai and the fit was awful. . .finally found a Champion Labs that fit like OEM. . .The Purolator engine filter fit like OEM. . .your mileage will vary I guess!

True that! I've used Puro BreatheEasy CAF's in three different makes/models, a Civic, Accord and Altima and all fit like OEM, no issues.

I usually use the Purolator air filter in my IS 300 because Amsoil doesn't make one for the factory box and never had a problem with it. This last time, I couldn't find a Purolator so opted for the cheap-o, local, OTS O'Reilley's bran. Opened up the box and guess what I found to my surprise...my Purolator filter! Identical labeling and construction, media , everything.

I have used the purolator p1 air filter and the fit was a good as all the others I have used (fram, fram tg, wix)

I've had no problems with Purolator air filters. I'm using one from 1998 in my Acura right now, fits fine and filters fine. Looks to have a high quality media. The cabin air filter I bought for my friend's Camry leaves a lot to be desired, however. It left a few rather large gaps on each side of the filter, whereas the OEM fit better.
