Does anyone know in Fram makes STP air filters? The model numbering is similar to that used by Fram, but I'm not sure if they are made by the same company.

In any event, I just bought an STP filter for my Honda, and I noticed that the gasket fit a lot better than the old Purolator filter. It reminded me of a Fram Airhog gasket - generally thicker and deeper than the gasket on most air filters.

I used one in my 2006 RSX, and I posted here how much I like it. Heavy screen on the inside, smaller in the inside, tight fit with a soft gasket. I added drywall meash to the outside of it that I'll peel off at the 1/2 way mark to clean the unit. Is yours the round one or a panel? iirc, either way it has the steel mesh, when some others do not.

It's a panel filter. It fits more snugly inside the airbox with a soft pliable gasket that completely encloses the filter element. I was pretty impressed with it.

I believe they are made by Champion since thats what it list on the side of the box. Right the numbers are similar but does not mean it is Fram, it just makes it easier to cross reference.

Recently replaced an air filter on my VW and it fits just as good as the OEM.

I bought one back in Jan. and was impressed with what I got for the $. Purolators were too flimsy and didn't fit all that well. Next Jan, I will look again for an STP.
