Decided to find out from purolator, what micron rating the 99% claim was filtering. I was kind of shocked that they’re the same as the boss filters…46 micron rating. Insane

One way to make an "extended" use oil filter is to make the efficiency lower (same goes with the Wix XP and Purolator Boss).
On the opposite side of the spectrum, oil filters like the OG Ultra (99% @ 20u) and the new Carquest EP (99% @ 25) that use full synthetic media (and both are rated to 20K miles) are exceptions to that. It all depends on the media design. If you're actually going to run a filter for extended OCIs, use an extended use filter that has efficiency on the high end.
Purolator doesn't show any real efficiency info on their website for their 20K filter. Think I know why.

Side note info. I just noticed that Purolator took the ISO 4548-12 efficient note off the bottom of the page for the Boss. It use to say 99% >46u (after the M+H Pres was made aware of the Boss Spec Sheet info), so apparently Purolator is now not divulging efficiency info on their low efficiency filters.

And they also never fixed the efficiency info for the PL30001 (the ONE) on the website to match the official Spec Sheet. And they show the bottom tier (red) Purolator L30001 at 99% @ 20u (same as the Purolator ONE) which I have a hard time believing.

Junk, especially at $10-$12 they're selling them for. I bet the sell a TON of them. I'm waiting for the engine failure from using one. It's coming.

I just put one of these on my friends vehicles. Told them to bring the oil filter as I was fresh out of 22x1.5mm oil filters. He went to Walmart....
I'll pull samples in a few thousand miles and see if there's anything other than the typical 0 to 3 particles measuring 3 microns or less in size.
This will be the lowest efficiency filter I've looked at, other than no filter.

It doesn’t work that way.
PGI has fired back up the Champ Labs factory in Illinois after they bought them out of bankruptcy. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer.I’ve been subbing my usual ST16s for these gold purolators since there’s a “shortage” of champion labs products as of late… will be very excited to not have to use these again then
Not sure about Fram yet. Hopefully PGI fixes the leaf spring leak!
We won’t know 100% until the first C&P. Fingers crossed.
Exactly the same would mean ruffled leaf springs, let's hope that gets fixed if they stay with that design.
