These will be on deck after I run through the 3 FL500S's I have left.

5000 mile OCI's on my '25 3.5 Hybrid

Decent enough looking filter. I don't really split hairs over filters much. I buy a decent filter and move on. With shipping these were $2.80 ea.

Rust and sloppy glue. Not my cup of tea.

Thanks for the c&p.

So, do you tear every filter apart before you use it for approval and then reassemble it?

I mean, you can sample a group of filters and condemn them today, but tomorrow's batch can be completely different.

I'm sure my 300k+ Accord and 180K+ TL have had many a rusty filter. Probably some sloppy glue too.

People are way too uptight about filters.

It could be a lot worse. I'm surprised to see a silicone ADBV for the price. I see these for <$1 often times on RockAuto. I've seen rust on many, many Wix filters I've used over the years, I don't sweat it too much. Decent looking jobber filter. Thanks!

Basically a low tier Purolator. The price is right if that's the main goal, and it does have a silicone ADBV.

At this point in time, there are some filter makes that show more constant built quality than others. That's all people can go by, and typically do go by.

Well you know thats not possible. But there is a pattern of poor QC among certain filter companies. I avoid those and stay with the most consistent good quality filter brands.

I do cut all my used filters and many virgins, post them here on occasion.

Looks decent to my eye. By appearance, I'd call it a current standard Purolator Red L series by another name. Imo, worth $2.80 including shipping. Any details on the where obtained for that price? Thanks for including shot of louvered tube with media removed.

Thanks for c&p.

Rockauto - they were a 'manufacturer closeout' or whatever the term for it is they use. $1 and some change plus shipping.

Pro-Tec PXL57502 oil filter has a 95% efficiency rating at 29 microns. Not good enough for me to even consider it.

You do you.

I'm not saying it doesn't matter, but....well, it doesn't really matter in the end. The electronics, battery, and everything else will quit working in this truck long before the 3.5L will. I see no need to spend big bucks to add questionable life on to the end of the vehicle. (I DO Spend more money on oil, being it gets a diet of R&P @5000 miles.)

Like I said, my Accord is happily cruising along at over 300K, no knocking, no smoking, starts first time every time, and it has been on a steady diet of midrange filters its entire life. Sure there were some M1's in there somewhere along the line, but there were also some torn Purolators as well, and in the end....it is still going strong.

(Yes, I realize the cost in relation to the vehicle, yadda yadda)

Thanks for the reply. I'd say you bought them right. And based on date code format with suffix, best info says made at M&H Purolator plant. As for the efficiency number put forth, the Protec a jobber tier filter was originally by Wix and thus hard to say if accurate for topic filter shown. That said, even if accurate not terrible and likely significantly better than the OEM. In the range of rating for many Champ Labs filters. As for gap between endcap and can, I wouldn't be at all concerned. Seeing as the oil system itself ~15x more restrictive than filter, sure it's fine. And keep in mind, cutting the can inevitably narrows how the gap may 'appear'.

Congrats on the new ride.
