No one is saying that Mobil 1 is a bad oil. It has the certifications it needs.
Regarding it having a thinner base oil, it's nitpicking for its 5w30 flavors. Most people won't notice a measurable difference in wear. If the wear is a real issue, chances are that you will need a 10w30 or 15w40 rather than trying to find the 5w30 with the least wear.
No oil is perfect. They all have strengths and weaknesses.
