I had a stainless steel railing let go from a stainless bolt. The railing was along the edge of the deck of my speedboat and was was originally attached with a spot weld but I didn’t feel like taking it into a welding shop. I ended up reattaching the two using a product called J-B MarineWeld. The hollow end of the railing slipped over top the bolt and it was likely that if I filled the area with epoxy it would set up securely. Not only did that happen, even a bit of the epoxy that was on the smooth shiny surface of the railing totally adhered to it.
This is not a fast setting epoxy. It has a set time of 4-6 hours and a cure time of 15-24 hours. Apparently it has a bonding strength of nearly 4000 psi. Looks like it did the trick.
