My trusty Epson Artisan 810 died today, not recognizing the ink cartridge…
I have an Epson Artisan 800 for parts…

Does anyone know how to take apart these printers?

I hope you tried a second cartridge already. I once had a new cartridge which the printer didn't know it was there.

I was going to write that printers are basically disposable but that is an expensive printer.
find a youtube?

They are basically disposable IMO.
That's what I was going to write but this is an expensive printer. Don't know if that makes it better built.

Tried basic troubleshooting already…
No luck…

Recognizes blue, light blue, magenta, light magenta, and yellow,
but when I insert a black, all six cartridges get rejected.
Tried three blacks, no luck…
cleaned contacts, no luck…

The 800 has a waste ink pad error, cleared it, came right back…

Was hoping to Frankenstein the two together…

New Epson Ecotank 2803 from Target is on order, landed in Alaska an hour ago, on a 747 Freighter…
Should be here by Friday….

When it comes to taking things apart, I have found over the years that a hammer to smack around the seams usually does the trick. Just enough to crack the plastic.

But it might only be useful on things you don't intend to put back together.

The only printers worth disassembling are older HP LaserJets. The shell on that Epson has some screws but it “snaps” into place on the metal chassis.

The print head and service station in Epson printers are considered part of the printer and disposable. Therefore, on an Epson, it’s considered PM to print an page a day to keep the print head working - and don’t do too many cleaning cycles.

Epson ET-2803 is here, and installed.

Setup was a little painful, but not impossible…

Bottles of ink, no cartridges! (Eco Tank)

I have hidden my SSID’s and enabled MAC address filtering…

I also assigned a Reserved DHCP address to the printer…
