So it is time for another fleet update...
I am one step closer to unlocking the final T10 BB in WOWS (Conqueror). Yesterday I picked up the British Royal Navy T9 BB Lion. I only played 13 games in the T8 Monarch before using the last of my Free XP hoard to get past it. That ship was just terrible as most of the BRN BB line has been. Really I should just drop the line as I have only really liked the T7 KGV and the T5 Iron Duke was ok but the rest are just meh to downright awful (talking to you T6 Queen Elizabeth and T8 Monarch). But, I want that T10 so I have them all so I am pushing onward.
Lion is better than Monarch but it isn't great. I pretty much would take any other T9 BB over it except the IJN T9 BB Izumo. I just can not seem to click with this line. Spamming HE from the back lines trying to set fires to burn ships down is just not my thing. I like to move up, be a bully, and wreck stuff with AP. The BRN BB's just don't do well at that (The T6 Premium Warspite and T7 Premium Hood do but not the etch tree BB's).
Lion has pretty soft armor and has the lowest HP of any T9 BB. It does have the famous British Super Heal consumable that restores a ton of damage BUT you only get 2 of them so it is no different than a regular BB with 3 regular heals. So in effect you are worse off. At least Lion has some half way decent AP. It isn't the best choice for full time use but it can at least do ok when conditions are right. Well, if you can hit anything anyway as the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired too.
So I am on the way to Conqueror. I have the Lion all upgraded except for the engine which I [probably won't do. It is a lot of XP and credits for just a 1.5 knot boost. Just not worth it. Only need 255,000 XP now and I will be at Conqueror
.

Slot 6 = Main Battery Modification 3 (-12% to main gun reload / +13% main gun turret rotation)
Camo:
I have not purchased the permanent camo for Lion. I am just not sure I will want to keep it so I am using up the boat load (no pun intended) of special 1 time use camo's I have won and been hoarding. If I decide to keep Lion I will get the camo.
Mounted Consumables: (*)
Damage Control Party (stops fires and flooding + repairs damage to main/secondary/AA guns and torpedo tubes)
Repair Party Repair Party (heals back some of the damage taken)
Spotter Plane (ship launched Spotter Plane - increases main gun range while active) (**)
* - consumables are manually activated special features. They have a limited active time then require a recharge period (sometimes lengthy) before you can use them again. All consumables have a premium version (II) available that cost resources and have to be purchased for each battle. The standard versions (I) are free and come mounted by default.
** - Lion has the ability to mount a Spotter Plane -OR- a Catapult Fighter in the same slot. I have chosen the Spotter as I find them more useful.
Captain:
I have assigned my 18pt Capt that was on my Bb line over to the new T10 BRN CL Minotaur. That means I had to go with a Capt out of my reserves for the Lion. I have a 13pt Capt I am using. Points are assigned as follows...
1pt = Priority Target (let's you know when you are targeted and by how many)
1pt = Incoming Fire Alert (let's you know when a ship targeting you shoots)
1pt = Preventative Maintenance (-30% chance of main guns, secondary guns, and AA guns being damaged or destroyed)
2pt = Expert Marksman (increase rotation speed of main gun turrets)
3pt = Superintendent (+1 charges to all mounted consumables)
4pt = Concealment Expert (reduces the ship's detection range by -14%)
* - 1 pt is unassigned at this time
BRN T9 BB Lion w/ Hunter Camo (Port = Atlantic Ocean):
1st game did not go well. The ship was 100% stock and I was on a team with a couple people that weren't there to play but rather to screw around (shooting each other, carrying on in chat like 2 year olds, etc...). Lion, like most of the BRN BB's, is not a BB that can carry a game when down. We got down to just me and our CV and I did my best to cap and defend the CV but I died doing it and we ultimately lost on points despite our CV's valiant effort.
This is probably my best overall game so far in the ship. Not exactly earth shaking...
