HMMM? Really hard to say I have a 100% favorite. I like a few of them a lot. In no real order

Cruisers:
KM T5 KONIGSBERG - fast, lots of guns with excellent ROF, good torps. I just do well with it.

BRN T6 LEANDER - very fast and nimble, good ROF, decent gun #'s and damage, excellent torps( love the single fire ability of BRN ). Also has smoke and hydro. Really enjoyed it.

BRN T7 FIJI - pretty much a LEANDER on steroids and with more guns. I haven't played it a ton as I got side tracked into BB's after getting it but I see it potentially being in my top 2 at least. What may hold it back is seeing up to T9 ships due to WOWS asinine +2 MM. I don't like getting Seal Clubbed!

Battleships:
KM T5 BB KONIG - I love this thing. For a T5 BB it is fast and maneuverable and it's guns are super accurate. I have made a ton of max range Dev Strikes on Cruisers with it and it is accurate enough to even reach out and touch Destroyers and keep them at a safe distance. Even with the smaller 305MM's it seems to do well against other BB's even when up tiered.

USN T4 WYOMING - can't really put it in words but I have really liked this ship. Interestingly, it is one of the few ships I have done well in Random matches in and it is my best showing( excluding a couple ships I have 1 game in with a win ). Have a 64% WR in it( 9-5 )and have survived 9 of the 14 games.

Really hard to say what is my actual favorite? Once upon a time I might have said KONIGSBERG( 2nd best @ 63% WR in Random FWIW even though I haven't done much in the wins ). Lately I am really liking the KONIG though. It might be my favorite at the moment?

Overall favorite ship line is BRN Cruisers.

FWIW, I have yet to spend a cent on the game and I'm at Tier 9 for 2 of my ships and Tier 8 for numerous others.

The best ship line for me is American destroyers. They have great guns, and in the higher tiers, very good torpedoes. My Tier 9 Fletcher is simply amazing in the game. Look up The Battle off Samar and Taffy 3 to see in real life how three of them [with support from jeep carriers and destroyer escorts] took on a fleet of Japanese battleships, cruisers and destroyers, bloodied them badly, and drove them away from an otherwise undefended landing fleet during the larger Battle of Leyte Gulf.

I have to agree about the British cruisers for versatility. Sturdy construction, able to repair under way, and they can make their own smoke screen, but they have tiny guns. They can be very effective when played by a knowledgeable player. I'm just not that player yet, and have only got to Tier 5 with that line.

The Destroyers and old Battle Ships are awesome. These are pretty recent, certainly not WWII vintage but still impressive.

I like this picture of the USS Carl Vinson CVN 70 on a port call to Guam.

Here's one of the USS Howard DDG 83:

I started out going the totally free route too( and suggest it for anyone who is just starting to make sure you like it 1st )but ultimately ended up getting a Premium membership for the better post battle payout and because I knew I liked the game and would continue on. I really play Co-op 99% of the time and once you get up around the T5 range you just take forever to make any headway on resources as a standard member. At T6/T7 you could easily lose credits; heck you can do that even as Premium then. So, I paid because I just don't care for Random. I have purchased some doubloons too( convert XP to Free XP and to buy Permanent Camo )but not a ton. All told since I started in Dec I have spent about $50. Being disabled and home most of the time it is cheap entertainment for me.

I tried getting into DD's and at 1st really liked it. I went with the German ones to start and was about to start the US ones when it lost it's appeal for some reason? I find the BRN CL's play a lot like a DD but with more HP so I get that style of play "fix" just using them. US DD's probably have the best guns and I HATE it when one focuses you from the smoke. Heck, even in the open if you are a BB. They run circles around you toasting you like a marshmallow while you dodge and weave( as best as a BB can ), trying to not present a good torp angle, while desperately waiting for your guns to reload in the hope you might actually hit the DD if you shoot at it.
crackmeup2.gif
.

I forgot to mention the BRN Cruisers get the Repair Party( heal ). LOVE that and helps a lot. BRN CL's from the T2 WEYMOUTH to the T10 Minotaur all use 152MM. Granted they are not as big as some of the ones you see in higher tier CL's( 180MM-220MM )but I don't really find it to be that much of a hindrance. From T6 and up, where it could be an issue( better ships to fight )you get a good number of guns, with a good ROF, that use the excellent BRN AP. So you can throw a lot of shells fast which helps make up for not having a lot of them. I think what hurts them the most gun wise is not having HE to use on BB's and not having enough useable ones when you want to shoot through T5. From T6 LEANDER on the guns are excellent even @ 152MM IMO...

T6 LEANDER = 8 152MM @ 7.5 seconds
T7 FIJI = 12 152MM @ 7.5 seconds
T8 EDINBURGH = 12 152MM @ 7.5 seconds
T9 NEPTUNE = 12 152MM @ 5 seconds
T10 MINOTAUR = 10 152MM @ 3.2 seconds

BRN T5 CL EMERALD. Tough ship to play through mostly due to seeing so many T7's because of the awful +2MM. Against T4/T5 it is fine and can compete in good hands against T6. Against T7 though hopelessly out matched. I did most of the grind with it but did use a little Free XP at the end to get to LEANDER and that is where the BRN CL line really gets awesome. You will love LEANDER if you like DD play.

Hey. Going to send you a PM with some tips to try and help you get started. Sort of "paying it forward" for all of the help Nick R gave me.

I took this from the Howard. We were heading toward the Missouri in Pearl Harbor on the way back to San Diego during a Tiger Cruise.

Ok, got a surprising update to the fleet. I actually have gone back into the Imperial Japanese Navy(IJN) line after swearing I wouldn't. I am doing it for a childish and stupid reason but doing it none the less.

Unless one of these couple ships impresses me, which I highly doubt, I will drop back out once I prove a point so to speak.

Made a couple generic and simple/innocent comments on a WOWS forum I visit when the topic of best BB's at certain tiers came up. I made some comments about not really liking the IJN ones I had played and not really fearing the ones I have played against to this point( I listed both so people knew which I was talking about and not saying I played ships I haven't ). I said if others did well with them and liked them all the power to them and that I wasn't trying to be offensive; just giving my honest answer to the question. You would think I was insulting some people's religion or their family the way some guys acted. I mean dudes, it is just a GAME!
lol.gif

So, I am going to play through this new ship and to the next one up the line( T6 FUSO )which are the ones people were having hissy fits over because I said I didn't fear them. Shouldn't take too long to get through this one and to the next, and once I do, I will play a few in it and then go back to the forum and ask if I am entitled to an opinion now?
09.gif

So the new ship is the IJN T5 BB KONGO. I used what XP I had left over from the MYOGI plus a little Free XP to research it, and then used Free XP to max upgrades( stock ships are awful ), as no way in Hades I was playing the T4 MYOGI again to finish the grind. NO WAY!
31.gif
. I had a decent IJN Capt saved from my AOBA so I assigned him to the ship.

Screenshots of the ship and 1st game results in it below. The very 1st game played reminded me of why I don't like the IJN BB's. Weak armor( really bad in KONGO as it is actually a Battle Cruiser and not a true Battleship ), fewer guns than most of contemporary BB's, horrendous accuracy, awful acceleration, and sluggish turns. Going back to the IJN BB line and playing one again reminds me of just how bad the 1st couple were. Feels like I woke up thinking I was a swinging bachelor in bed with a hot young chick on to realize I am in bed with and married to Roseanne Barr or something.
lol.gif
The KONGO is super fast for a BB and has really long gun range but that is about the only good I can say about it. Thankfully it has the most HP of any T5 BB because it vanishes real fast when hit due to the weak armor.

The 1st game in it while providing good results felt hairy the entire time. Don't think I have ever done that well and felt like I was in so much trouble and that the ship was so outmatched in the game ever. Near the end I was chased around by 2 T7 BB's( KM SCHARNHORST & USN COLORADO ). I was in trying to cap an area and got caught in the midst of islands by them. Couldn't use that great speed to lose them( wouldn't have lost the KM one - just as fast )because maneuvering and acceleration are so bad( I actually wound up grounded out on an island and my secondary's saved me by finishing one of them ). So while better than the previous T4 MYOGI so far the T5 KONGO is meh at best. I think the T6 FUSO will be better but we will see in a day or two.

I'm doing the German tree (surprise surprise, LOL!) at this moment, started with the Japanese and was like "nope!". I just got Kolberg, so I'm not too far at this point
smile.gif

KOLBERG isn't too bad really. The next one up, KARLSRUHE, is a bit tedious but then you get to one of the gems in KONIGSBERG.

The only IJN ones I have actually liked/could stand were the 1st few. T2 CHIKUMA, T3 TENRYU, and T4 KUMA. Pretty good other than steering/engines get knocked out very easy. They are very different then the rest of the IJN Cruisers though. Once you get to T5 FURUTAKA they swap over from Light Cruisers to Heavy Cruisers and are totally different.

Sent you that PM I said I would. Turned out to be a book! Betetr have a couple beers when you read it.
