Didn't make it back on last night so 1st game with BRN T5 BB Iron Duke was this morning. Nothing special but not bad for a 1st game. Gun lead is different with the T5 vs T4 and it took me a while to get it. Was just 3 of us on the team with 5 bots. We were down 6 to 2 ( me and our Hood )at one point but the 2 of us pulled it off with our Hood just wrecking it with 5 kills.

Man am I loving the Hood. I have no clue what these people who say it is just average or poor are talking about. It is freaking AWESOME! While I admit I have a bias for the ship in general, being one of my all time favorites in real life, my comments and praise about the one in game are based solely on how it performs. It is a flat out BEAST!

It is super fast, fairly maneuverable( wide turning radius is a big draw back ), is very tanky and tough, AA is awesome, secondary's are decent, and the main guns are very accurate and do good damage. Not a ton of citadels against other BB's( plenty against Cruisers )but 10-15K+ salvos consistent which I will take any day.

Only played 4 games so far but am averaging 85K in damage( the earlier 107K game posted is high so far )and am putting up a 44% main gun accuracy rate which is insane for a BB. Just nothing to complain about. It is everything I hoped for in the game. Can't wait to sink a Bismarck with it.

And oh boy the credits this thing gives!!!

Note I took 84 THOUSAND in damage and still lived! Most of it, ironically, from the enemy Hood.

Installed some custom skins for a couple ships. Hood and Bayern. Really like the one for Bayern. Just have to modify a couple values in the game to hide the premium camo I have for each( still gives the camo bonuses even if invisible )and then download the custom skin files which display. Only wish other's could see them in the game. Only I get to see them. Still, makes it more enjoyable for me.

Actually have decided that my main focus will be finishing off the god awful KM T7 BB Gneisenau so I can put Bismarck in port next to Hood. I have just under 40K XP on it already but Bismarck is 135K. Started off on the right foot. Only need about 75 more just like this to get there.

OY such a long way in a ship, that while I do very well in, I don't like...

1st step on the LONG journey...

Edit - just plunked down the 2000 doubloons for Gneisenau's permanent/premium camo. For what is about $10 in real $$$ it will cut the grind in half with the bonuses it gives so worth it to spend a little to get it over with quicker. Will probably keep it now that I spent real money on it but won't play it much. Will post port photos of it later.

Played another game then got port shots with the new premium camo. Also added a custom "Revolution" skin for the ship. Not sure why the artist did a Russian skin for a German ship??? but it looks good so I am using it for now. Amazes me how well I do in this ship yet I get no enjoyment from it? Just don't like it but I want Bismarck so onward I go...

Internet went out right after post ^^^ last night and just came back so just started up again. 1st game this AM below. Makes me LOL how good I do in the ship when I dislike it so. Up to 70K average damage p/game with it which is really good seeing as I play Co-op.

Stopped playing early last night as wasn't feeling well. Got up early today and have resumed. More good games. In between some of these I had a game where a single torpedo detonated me from almost full health. the 1 torp did 51,397 damage! I was like WHAT???

I have had that happen to me in a DD or Cruiser but a BB? Come on, hardly realistic. WG added new effects during the battle and one of them was more "realistic fire and smoke". It is realistic alright. So much smoke and fire on ships you can't see. A torp plane came at me out of the smoke and I didn't see it in time and caught the torp and went BOOM!

Actually, the very next game ( 133K damage ) had a player who was in the one I detonated in and he was like "Hey Admiral, how about sticking around a while and helping this time".

He was a hoot razzing me the whole time. I got last laugh though as he died and I did 133K and came in 1st.

Also had a massive game of 142K damage and 6 kills. Was just me and a guy in a Kirov plus 6 bots on our team. I warned him to be careful as the Kirov is fragile and he was in his 1st game. Nope broadside to a BB and POOF he went right off. I ended up alone vs SIX! Somehow I pulled it off including 2 Dev Strikes ( 1 salvo kills of full health Kirov and Konigsberg )to take the pressure off. Didn't think I had a chance in heck of doing it. Gneisenau is one of the few BB's that could though due to fast reload of main guns, torps, and 32knot speed.

I am perplexed on this one...

147K damage, all 8 enemy ships damaged and 5 sunk and I come in SECOND????

Maybe because I accidentally clipped our DD with a shot? Was passing through his smoke when an enemy Fiji appeared right on top of him. Shot it to save the DD but my tail gun clipped him for 2k damage. Still, I was second???

The grind is done and I now have the XP needed to research Bismarck. FINALLY!!! Bismarck was the "other" ship besides Hood I wanted when starting WOWS. Finally ground through Gneisenau and am there.

I intended to sell the Gneisenau once done but seeing as I bought the premium camo and it can't be resold I guess it stays in port. Will post Bismarck port shots and stats in next post. Here is last Gneisenau game. Not a great game but a good one...

So here are the Bismarck's stats and port shots. I transferred my Gneisenau Capt to it as it was my highest one. I then moved all the others up the line. Gets costly shelling out 500 doubloons to reshuffle/retrain Capt's every time you get a new ship. Slick money making move there by WG. Haven't played 1st game yet but will post when I do.

Make note of the secondary gun range of the Bismarck. 10.8km( that is with SBM2 upgrade and a Capt w/ BFT and AFT or it would be less ). That is almost a full 1km further than the stock main gun range, and is just .1km less than the upgraded main gun range, of the IJN T3 BB Kawachi. Almost 11km range from secondary's is INSANE! DD's best think twice about coming at me now.

I had someone PM me once and ask if I really posted 1st game results or posted 1st good game results? Well, the following will leave no doubt I post actual 1st game results and there is no funny business.

Once again, my 1st game in a ship I am bottom tier and on a map I have never seen. Just like with the North Carolina I got thrown to the T10's wolves too!

It didn't go well let's just say and I actually lost credits. We won, I lived, and I did my best so it is what it is. I had never played that map though( that I remember anyway )plus I was not used to the ship, and felt a little overwhelmed, thus I didn't accomplish much. Hey at least I didn't die and it was a win or I would have lost a lot of $$$.

Couple quick observations...

1 - The secondary's are INSANE. They throw up a constant barrage of HE shot BUT it is wild and all over the place. Not accurate like with other ships at all.

2 - The main guns are absolutely HORRIBLE for accuracy. WORSE than GNEISENAU even though it is the same gun. Not overly powerful either against higher tier ships. Seem to do okay against similar and lower tiers. Definitely going to have to be CLOSE with this one for any chance to hit I think.

3 - Ship seems tough and maneuvers fairly well.

I played one more game and did better. Not great but better. Made money, killed 2 ( including enemy Bismarck ), and came in 3rd on team. Gives me a good benchmark for what I need to do to be profitable in it. With the premium camo and flags it is reasonable.

This is more like it. Guess I just need to get used to it. More of a bow on and angle against incoming rounds until you get close then pound them type. When the guns actually hit they do big damage. The fickle guns are my only real complaint. One minute a nice tight group then shells flying off NWSE all at the same time.

Smoked a Hipper for 28K+ in one salve with just 2 shells in this one. Learning the correct angle to bounce, when to swing so guns come to bear right when reloaded, etc... Hopefully I will figure it out after working this hard to get there.

Now I am getting it. Get in close, let the secondary's set everything around you on fire( I feel like a 4th of July sparkler when they are going off

), and select targets to pound with main guns while you bounce the enemy shells. A very interesting, if not nerve wracking, playstyle.

New high score for me in Nagato by a ton. Blew the previous 118K out of the water. Ended the game by ramming the enemy Nagato for the win...

I am really liking the USN T8 BB North Carolina. Guns are absolutely insane they are so good. Have to be careful showing too much side but man the ship is a beast. AA is fantastic as well. And man do I love being able to go faster than 21knots in a USN BB!!!

Just set my high score with it so far. Accidentally lost the middle screen I usually show with the damage to each ship so just the reward screen and standings...
