Pretty ships in world of warships

Thanks for the info ^^^ Nick.

Closest I ever got into that stuff was the old Star Blazers cartoon in the late 70's early 80's when I was a kid/young teen. I believe the ship they rebuilt and turned into the space Battleship Argo was the Yamato? I couldn't wait to get home from school to watch it.

So it's funny you mention star blazers. The anime "Space Battleship Yamato" is actually the pre-localized Star Blazers. Same show, but localzied for American audiences. Here is the OP for the recent TV anime remake.

Here is a version of the OP from the recent TV anime remake.

Edit:

Here is the Japanese OP for the original 70s show.

This is actually the full version of the song from the OP in the new show. I've been meaning to sit down and watch the new show with my buddy but I haven't had the time yet.

I had no idea they had redone that or that it was such a big thing. Just remember it from being a kid. I am going to have to check out some of the remake episodes. Looks like the characters and such are the same and even look the same. Cool.

Thanks.

Well, now back to WOWS...

I have lost my mind! Done something I said I wouldn't do. Just bought my 1st CV. Not sure how long the experiment will last but I will give them a try like I did with DD's. Got to say I am a bit nervous as it looks hard to play CV's and no matter what you do people seem to chat abuse the CV player all the time so I feel like this already...

lol.gif

Tried to read through various WOWS forums to see what CV line is better for a newbie but the opinions are all over the place. One guy says USN is the best, then another guy says IJN, then someone says you're nuts is USN, and another jumps in and says IJN again, and on and on. After about 30 minutes I got a head ache and said screw it and just went with the National flavor = USN.
34.gif

Worst case if I don't like CV play is I just stop and sell them off like I did with the DD's. A little credit loss but not a big deal.

No 1st game results yet as I want to watch some videos and such and prepare to try them out but I can post port shots and some stats. Starting a new Captain out for CV's as I didn't want to take one from my regular ships or use the doubloons so just a 3 point Captain for it. The Captain and I will just have to grow and learn together.
lol.gif

As always this is for a fully upgraded ship( I need to get more doubloons and convert more XP to Free XP - about used it all up lately ).

You are better off with IJN tbh. The USN line only has a couple of good ones, the T4, and T8 mostly. For all other tiers the IJN ones are better, much better loadouts to do damage. The IJN torp bombers are far superior. Also don't forget that manual drop for T4/5 carriers was removed, so you can only rely on autodrop which is completely worthless, until T6. I sold both of mine becuse it's just not worth it.

Well I just wanted to try them is all. Sort of get a feel for what the CV players go through. I can always try the IJN line if I decide to stay with them.

I decided to just jump in and give it a go vs watching more video. Just mind numbingly boring watching some of those how to ones. Probably should have forced myself to watch more but wanted to try it. I think I did okay for 1st go. I torped and bombed a BB ultimately sinking it via flooding. Also took out the enemy's fighters 1st thing so my strike planes were safe. Came in 4th on team and we won. Unfortunately I died.
lol.gif

Man that is a lot of stuff going on to pay attention too at one time. OY! I wasn't paying enough attention around me and let an enemy DD close on me. It was right around the time I had finished the air strikes and I couldn't get my planes to go back and land? Don't know if I was on fire or what? The CV is so slow I had no chance to get away from the DD and it torped me.

I think the hardest part is going to be keeping track of where the ship is and not getting caught unaware as you focus on your planes. So not a great start but could have been worse.

Had to do some stuff so stopped after ^^^ but still needed a few XP for last container so went back and played COLORADO. Man did it seem easy after playing that CV.
lol.gif

Yeah with CVs you have to be really good at constant situational awareness, and it's one of the times you need to actually use the autopilot function for your ship.

Seems that way. Not sure with my MS and slower reaction times if CV will be a good thing for me? Will give it a few more games to see.

Thanks.

Congrat's OVERKILL. I like the BAYERN a lot and have kept it. Up through and including the GNEISENAU at T7 I only like the KONIG more than the BAYERN in the KM BB line. Guns can be a bit wonky at times, especially out at range, but what KM BB other than KONIG doesn't have that issue( maybe SCHARNHORST? )? But, overall they are pretty good. I find it faces uptiering vs T7 and T8 BB's much better than FUSO or NEW MEXICO at T6. A very tough ship.

What are you running for Capt skills? BAYERN has surprisingly good secondary's and I think a lot of people overlook how good it's AA is compared to the other T6 BB's. I have both BFT and AFT on my BAYERN's Capt and the AA and secondary's benefit a lot from that. I didn't start bothering with BFT/AFT until I got to T6 with my BB's as they just didn't help enough on low tier BB's with poor secondary's and AA to take them vs other skills. However, from T6 on it is a must have for me now on my BB's.

If I have to transfer a Capt that has BFT/AFT up the line into a new ship, and have to put a new or low point Capt in it's place, I will take BFT/AFT again just as soon as I have enough points( 10 is minimum but the way I like to build a Capt needs 11 minimum ). My KONIG Capt actually has enough points I was able to take them. They help some for sure there at T5 in the KONIG but not like they do at T6+. Definitely great Capt skills for your BB Capt's to have going forward now that you have reached T6. You will definitely want them once you get to GNEISENAU and absolutely when you get to BISMARCK.

Enjoy the BAYERN and it's more traditional KM BB play style because once you get to GNEISENAU it really changes for that one tier(7). I don't really care for it to be completely honest even though I do well in it. It really plays more like a Heavy Battle Cruiser than a BB. BISMARCK however will take you back to the traditional KM BB play style you are used to now. GNEISENAU is an odd one and really screws things up there at T7 play style wise. Originally I wanted BISMARCK bad like I know you do but I just can't get into extended playing of GNEISENAU to finish the grind. I like the COLORADO a lot better and because of that have swapped to trying to get to the USN T8 BB NORTH CAROLINA as my main grind. You will probably end up beating me to BISMARCK.
lol.gif

Enjoy that BAYERN, good luck with it, and let us know how you are doing in it.

PS - do you have any other nation ships you are playing besides the KM BB's?

Not much to be honest. Most of my captains don't have a huge selection of skill points and I usually just toss them toward improved gun performance. On Konig, the last two points were put into the speed of the turrets for example.

Nope, strictly German stuff. I believe I sold everything else. Not far from having Bismarck now

I will, though I feel I still need more seat time to be a decent asset. I've been travelling a ton for work lately and I only play this game on my home computer (though I'm sure it would run fine on my MBP) so I go through periods where I have time that I can spend, and then periods, like recently, where I don't.

It was a lot of fun playing with your group though, thoroughly enjoyed that

I'd definitely pick up some other stuff, at least the German crusiers or Russian destroyers. They are a lot of fun to play and far more dynamic than BB gameplay tends to be. at least some point down the road.

It's not necessarily about being a decent asset, at the very least you aren't a complete potato, but we can help carry in some games anyway, so it's fine

I have the whole fleet of German ships including Cruisers, I'm not just doing BB's. However I definitely play those the most frequently as it hastens the rate at which I can acquire Bismarck, lol

I would think if you are up to BAYERN you would have a Capt with 10-11 points by now to use on it? When you get a new BB( or any ship )have you been starting a new Capt vs. transferring your most experienced Capt of that ship type up the line to the new ship? Man that will really delay your Capt progression as the higher up you go the more XP it takes to get Capt points. You need to bring that Capt up with you as you climb the tech tree so you earn the most points possible as you go and always have your best Capt on your highest tier ship. Here is the progression chart for you from the WOWS Wiki site...

If you keep moving them up the line, you play the ships with that Capt more, so you get more Capt XP and your Capt progresses hand in hand with your rise through the tiers. At least until around T6 and a 10-12 point Capt. Around that time because it takes so much XP to get more points it is time to start considering the Flags with the +333% Capt XP. If you don't keep moving the Capt up the line, and instead leave them behind and go with a new Capt each time, you end up with higher tier ships with low point Capt's. That hurts you.

Right now my T7 BB Capt's all have 11 or 12 points and are almost up to their 12th or 13th points. The GNEISENAU Capt has 12 and is almost to 13 as it was my 1st BB Capt on Nassau and I have played a lot more games with it, despite being in ships of same tier, than my USN and IJN BB Capt's that are on 11 and heading for 12. My T6 USN BB Capt has 10 and is 1/2 way to 11. My T6 KM BB Capt just got it's 11th not too long back. My T6 Fuso is actually my lowest BB Capt point wise overall at just 6. I actually got out of IJN ships 100% for a while but kept 1 Capt just in case I ever wanted to come back. Glad I did as I eventually came back for BB's. I have kept that Capt moving up the line and it is now in NAGATO. I had to start a new Capt for Fuso as it was the 1st IJN ship I kept once going back to the line. My T4 and T5 USN BB Capt's both have 9 points. My KM T5 BB Capt actually has 11 and is almost to 12 as I like the KONIG so much, and play it so much, I transferred my highest point KM CL Capt to it as I don't play the CL's as much anymore. My T6-T7 Cruiser Capt's all have 9-11 points.

So the above sort of shows that by the time you hit T6 you can have at least a 10 point+ Capt if you have kept them moving up the line. It really does help a LOT as you get to higher tiers. You are going to want to buff your AA and secondary's from T6+ on in the KM BB's and especially once you get to BISMARCK.

What is your highest point Capt in total in your KM ships(BB, CL, DD, etc... )?

It's further than you think.
lol.gif
Long way to go from BAYERN to BISMARCK XP and credit wise. But, you are closer than me most likely even though I am at GNEISENAU and ahead of you at this time. I just can not get into playing more than 1 or 2 games a day in it. I think once I get to the USN T8 BB NORTH CAROLINA( 1/2 way there now )I will try and put the effort into getting BISMARCK if my health holds out.

Yeah, I've been keeping the captains with the ships.... LOL! Guess that was a mistake. I'll have to see what I've got for points. I think the one with the most is in KONIG.
