Supposed to reach -24 where I live in Colorado tonight. If it really does get that cold that will be the second coldest temperature I have ever seen.

I'm right there with you in CO!

What I don't understand is, why are people so shocked when this happens......................EVERY YEAR at this time! Oh well, the guys who do clean up from busted frozen pipes, busted vehicles, and guys selling batteries and tires love it.

The coldest temperature I have ever seen where I live in Colorado was back in 1979 when the temperature reached -28 one night. The week that it got that low it was about -20 each night.

It is more normal to see temperatures of about -15 or -17 in the winter where I live (coldest nights during the winter).

We got some snow but Dner in places got more than a foot of snow during this recent storm!

The coldest I've ever started a car in was -36 F. Too cold if you ask me. I've seen -30 several times, and that seems to be the dividing line... colder than that is really cold.

I'm sitting outside in a t-shirt in Ohio right now if that tells you anything.

49*F here in the Southern Tier of NY, just came in from skiing. Everything soaked, of course. Thank the deities for waterproof/breathable gear!

It was one of the warmest New Year's Eves I ever remember up here, at 11pm last night it was still 47 degrees! Typically at this time of year it would be more like 20-25 degrees at that time of the night. It was nice to be able to hang around outside last night in just a t-shirt.

I don't think you have to worry about snow anytime soon in Las Vegas! The one time I was there it was something like 115 degrees.

20% chance of snow showers here in Vegas according to the local weather channel. Believe it or not it snows here pretty well once every five years or so.

Dang, I didn't know that! I thought it probably almost never snowed there! I have heard that although there is little rain there when it does rain it can be a real gully washer.

In Colorado the highest mountains are about 14,000 feet high. The highest is Mt. Elbert which is something like 14,400 feet high. I don't know the exact height.

I had always been under the impression in the lower 48 that Washington had the highest mountains. Boy was I Wrong.I looked up and saw that Colorado and California had many more mountains that are higher than in Washington.
