This is odd, because I have talked to more than one person with this impression. Not sure how it originated. Growing up in CA and hiking up Whitney, I knew it was the highest in the lower 48 and McKinley was the highest in the USA. Surprise to me is Mauna Kea!

Anyway - out here in Duvall we have not been above 32° F since the snow came. A little thaw would be nice, but it sure is beautiful. Crystal clear blue skies, sunny with all the ice on trees.....

I know, right! First time I heard about it I almost fell over. 13,700 something feet above sea level. You can even ski on it since it snows there.

We had the worst snowstorm in the last 20 years a week ago in hampton rds with 14 inches or more. Then we had 65 degrees on New Years yesterday. Obviously, the good thing is most of the snow is gone. But it will get cold and rainy soon as is becoming now. 48 at moment.

Earlier this morning my vehicle's outside temp reading was 60 degrees.

Our weather does this all the time. Extreme from one end to another. Because we in the middle. Not sunny warm florida or the usually frigid New England states.

Funny thing we usually get no snow or a few flakes at best. The last 2 years have been blizzards even North carolina and tennessee got hit.

Global warming who knows.

Mauna Loa next to Mauna Kea looks like a gentle rolling hill. But boy does it have some mass it's huge 9,700 cubic miles.
Biggest Mountain

Well, the lawn is white, visibility is down to about 1/4 mile, and the white stuff is coming down pretty well here in Vegas. Can anybody say "Snow Day"?
