I asked Prestone about compatiblity with Ford Premim Gold and this is their response:

Sorry, we forgot about your 2003 Ford E-250. Currently, we do not offer an aftermarket coolant for the WSS M97B51-A1
specification, but we are working on it. If you need to top off this vehicle, a recent Car & Driver article quoted an
industry expert for this coolant as stating that the conventional antifreeze can be added to this fluid. Prestone
Antifreeze in the yellow jug is a conventional antifreeze.

Hmmm does this seem right?

The only Prestone product that meets the WSS-M97B51-A1 spec (Ford P/N VC-7A) is Prestone Extended Life 5/150. This is a phosphate free coolant.

EDIT: I have tried and tried to find the link to the information regarding the compatibility of the Prestone Long Life but I can't find it. I'll keep looking.

I made a mistake. The Prestone Extended Life 5/150 meets the spec. WSS-M97B44-D. Sorry, I misread the sheet.

No problem!

What piqued my interest was that they mention a Car and Driver article showing how conventional anti-freeze could be used.

I don't doubt this at all because the van's cooling system (2003 E-250) looks pretty much the same as my Crown Vic's system (2000). The radiator material and heater core material wasn't radically different.

I wonder if C&D has that article on their site.
