pressure washer

I have a chance to buy a Craftsman pressure washer (2.2 GPM, 2250 psi, 6 HP). The engine runs fine, but the pump is locked up. Are these rebuildable, or disposable? Thanks in advance.

if its a Faip,then its disposable. if its an Anovireverbi its rebuildable.Just go on e-bay,lots of pumps on their.

This may not apply to you but. We have 5 pressure washers at work with Honda engines. The pumps are junk but the engines are fine. It's cheaper to replace the entire unit vs buying a new pump.

So we have all these engines laying around.

If it is one of the cheapie vertical units it likely uses an aluminum Faip or Chinese made pump. Not rebuildable.

With horizontal units, axial drives usually self destruct internally and make rebuilding more expensive than a new pump. If a pump is just locked up, it can't hurt to pull the valve body and have a look around. Might be some garbage/corrosion locking up a plunger/piston.

I use Briggs & Straton pump lube in my cheap Faip,its Synthetic and has made that thing last for three years so far.Pratically un heard of from those Faips.

I've got a Craftsman unit with same specs, possibly same model. My pump seized up so I pulled it apart just to see. One of the two bearings in it had disintegrated. Sears wanted about a hundred bucks for a replacement, but I took the good one to a bearing supply house and found a match for half that. It's been working ever since.

Thanks, guys. I ended up buying it dirt cheap. I'll tear the pump apart when the weather warms up.
