Just thought I would run this by: I have a Devilbiss pressure washer with a Honda 13HP GX390 engine and an Annovi Reverberi RKV4G37 pump. I bought this new in 2004 and have used it without fail every spring and fall on the farm. This spring, the pump failed, I rebuilt it and it once again works flawlessly (6 hours so far).
The oil I have always used is Annovi Reverberi AR64516 - AR Pump Crankcase Oil which is made for this unit and is a multi viscosity oil. After the rebuild, I put in ND30 oil which is a suitable oil for this pump as well. After running one hour, I drained the ND30 oil and put AR Pump Crankcase Oil to level. This is the oil which I will run for the next 50 hours or year which ever comes first.
My question is, since the crankcase itself has never been opened and has several hundred hours on it, could I benefit from putting a couple of ounces of Lucas oil stabilizer in it? Lucas oil stabilizer is basically brightstock, with no detergents and also claims to have anti foaming agents in it. As of now, I have only used the recommended oil.
When I run this washer for a few hours, the pump gets rather hot and the oil thins out a bunch. I know this is normal. Since this is an air cooled pump, my concern would be if I used too thick of an oil, it might not cool as well. But would a couple of ounces of Lucas be good on an older pump. Other OPE sites say it would be good. I'm not so sure.
