Preparing used brake rotors for new pads

I would have thought dealers and most Indy shop would only replace or resurface the rotors as they make more $$ and don't want people coming back saying the brakes are not right after just a pad slap.

As a shade tree mechanic I typically have new rotors on my shelf but will do pads only if the rotors are in very good condition.

I think the days of resurfacing rotors are over. Its not cost effective for a shop to spend the time (which equates to money) to resurface rotors. If new rotors out of the box are not perfectly machines, that's an issue. I would be considering another brand.
My Volvo dealership was in the pilot program in 2019 using the on car brake lathe that cut in small circular motions instead of just straight back. We were so successful in upsales of rotor cutting as well as fixing the constant brake pulsation that the chinese volvo parts introduced after the chicoms took over volvo.

Volvo NEVER had brake pulsation issues until Geely took over and then it was constant. Volvo was tired of paying for warranty discs every 10k to 20k miles so they had us try out machining them. I left in 2022 but I think it was being extended to all dealers.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions that owning a Chinese Volvo is a really bad idea.
