WHY would you say that? Its certainly good, but "king?" Not of anything except NOACK. Its thinner on all the viscosity numbers than M1 (not necessarily a bad thing). You could even argue that its more nearly in the middle of the spec window than some others, but still the only clear "king" factor I see is NOACK. And yes, it wins that one by a mile.

Lowest volatility, mrv #'s, PP, and top notch Seq IVA/IIIG performance.

My test of the oil I use is how does my engine perform after 300K(miles) with 10K OCIs.

I ran the premium royal purple in my car which has and outstanding Noak, yet my car burned 2.25 quarts in 6,000 miles, worst I have ever seen on my vehicle. So sometimes Noak isn't everything, would you agree?

We have NOACK figures for the other version of RP?

For their XPR series, all I see is this:

Quote:
Royal Purple does not provide physical specifications on its racing products. Please consult Royal Purple’s automotive
technical support department at 281-354-8600 or 888-382-6300 to determine which racing oil is right for you.

I'm talking about there SL Rated Version with Synerlec, prior to coming out with a SN version. Not their racing oils.

OK, do you have a PDS? I see they have the "Synerlec" street oils in the side, but the data sheet has no technical information as part of it

Even if the price was equal across the board I'd easily pick the Shell offering from this bunch. It has the best flow AND the lowest NOACK.

I wouldn't judge the oil on numbers alone. Look at UOAs when making your decision, too.

Yeah, what a disappointing appearance by Royal Purple, especially considering the price.
I know that they can't test every oil, but I really wish that they would have tested Mobil EP, since it is Ultra's and Edge's direct competitor and I'm sure it outsells both. Not too long ago this board was a viscocity index board and now it looks like the pendulum has swung and we are a Noack board, lol. Let me know when it swings again.

Most of the main-brand 5w30s will also have a 5w20 version and the specs should be very similar. I searched PQIA but could only find one SAE 20 tested:

No doubt we'll see some SAE 20 action in the future from them as it becomes more common.
Thankyou so much for your quik response and effort martinq for looking into it..very much appreciated..im happy what i see on PQIA you posted..keep up the good work

I haven't seen the FS synthetic here for a very long time. Some suspect that Canadian Tire's Formula 1 synthetic is the same thing (it is a SOPUS product after all).

@Topo: I think the SL RP's sulfur content had something to do with the Synerlec.

Lots of great oils out there!

I'm glad I stashed some PU while it was available at WM. It was a steal at clearance Walmart prices. The rebates were cherry topping assuming that they work.

Thanks, decent Noak. Great TBN..Never understood what's up with all the sulfur though.

Given that it was a 10w-30, the NOACK isn't that decent really. M1 0w-40, which has a massive visc spread in comparison and a MUCH higher VI, has a NOACK of 8.8%.
