I just picked up a new to me 07 Acura TL Type-S and it has 31k miles. I would like to switch it to synthetic and wanted your opinions on which of the two to go with? I used PP on my 350z and liked it. I went away from M1 many years ago when their formula changed for the worse, so I wanted to know how they are today?

Obviously M1 is $2 more than PP, but that doesn't bother me. I assume to stay with the 5w20 that Honda recommends including here in South Texas?

Thanks guys.

That's a nice car. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the above, and I don't think you'd notice a significant difference between them, especially since you're held to 7500 mile oci for the rest of your powertrain warranty.

I have both PP and M1 in my stash, I don't see a 6.50 benifit to the Edge.

Wallet wise, Edge has a $15 buck rebate, though no 5w-20 multigrade offered. The 5w30 is very close to a 20wt, so it can be used, esp in Texas. This Castrol does use some PAO in the base oil blend unlike syntec (not that you need it). I think modularv8 would prefer you ran Motorcraft ss or s 5w-20, though

I really think all the synthetics are fairly close now in quality with not much difference between them. Edge is unproven so far. I personally don't like Castrol and their horrible marketing, so I use other oils.

You're not thinking with your dip stick?

I try not to do that.

Up to 10k miles, I bet Motocraft is as good as all of them.

Castrol. It's more than just oil.

Are you reading the same thread as we are? If you ask me, looks like everyone gave you their opinion on what oil to use.
