Given the choice in a 5w20 grade which would you run, if there were no rebates, and they were the same price ?

My reason for asking is that saw on Valvoline's site that Synpower is a blend of Grp III & Grp IV.
I believe that the PP is a Grp III.

Which has the better add pack in your opinion ?

I've been very happy with PP, but I'm thinking about giving Synpower a go in my Windstar. It's the same price at my local WM.

I'm using PP and love it. I just think it is a better product over all. But that could have been brain washed into me from my father and uncle.

pennzoil platinum for me....its seems to be favored over synpower on BITOG forums

they both cost $20 for 5 quart jug at wal mart...but I say just go pennzoil platinum just to keep it safe...its been proven time after time to be a great synthetic

either is ok, but many people say the VOA of the PP is more desireable.....I would use PP and especially with the rebates it is only $5 for a 5 qt jug.

Given a choice between the two PP wins hands down! I have a feeling Edge is going to be a Bitog darling at some point though. Especially now that AAP used it for an oil change special which puts it in line price wise with its competition. Time will tell, but I'll stick with PP for now.

It's funny. I've been on this forum for six years and
remember all the craze for GC but then see the rest of
the Castrol Syntec grades bashed for being Grp III.
Isn't the Platium all Grp III ? Valvoline Synpower is
a mixture of the synthetic groups, a pour point of -42 C
and it gets turned down. Higher amounts of calcium with
a reduction of ZDDP to meet SM oil specs. will cause some
problems. Calcium competes with the ZDDP on the metal
surface and has a lower surface tension and shear pressure
rating. Sorry to all the new members here who love Pennzoil
but my vote is for Valvoline.

For the last year I have used SYNpower in mine and my wifes car. No troubles, no funny noises. Clean under the oil cap, no cold start noises. Its a solid oil to use. Ashland makes a high quality product.
Pennzoil also makes a great product as well. But I vote for the SYNpower. But thats only based on my personal experience. I am sure you'll do fine with either. Hey buy both and mix em' together. That way you can have the best of both worlds.
