Been thinking about the QSUD 0w20 but also thinking about the PP 0w20 or 5w20. I believe I saw the NOACK for PP 5w20 was 8 something. Anyone know the NOACK FOR QSUD or PP 0w20?

Thanks in advance

Easy choice for me. PP all the way Only because SOPUS hasn't got a supplier in my area (including Walmart) that stocks QSUD in 0W-20. But if I had a choice I guess I'd flip a coin. In 200K I doubt the engine would ever know the differencce.

I vote QSUD if you can find it because cheaper. I would also contemplate Castrol Edge now that it is cheaper than PP at walmart.

I've also noticed QSUD 0W-20 is not on the shelves anymore in my area either.

Yeah, its on shelves at wal Mart next to my work in all grades, but 2 wal marts 5 miles away in each direction there is like 10w30 QSUD and that's all.

My takeaway from the PQIA analysis these are the main differences:

PP 0W-20 appears to use trinuclear moly, QSUD does not.

PP 0W-20 has about 15% more calcium than QSUD 0W-20.

Of course the PP advertises the PP Technology for GTL, QSUD does not

I've used both in 5W-20, I'd say use whichever floats your boat or you get the best deal on.

slacktide_bitog: car is 2011 Focus, 2.0 duratech. 80% highway with very little stop/go. thinking of the PP 5W20

Nyogtha: thanks for that info sir

Oregoonian: yeah, I wonder if it's tri nuclear or....

Robster: from reading about NOACK, I feel comfortable knowing both oils and even PYB have low NOACK #'s.

I had a presentation from Infineum on trinuclear moly (moly trimer) posted here but now that link's been taken down.

BITOG Post Link

I found a similar presentation at a different web address now though.

http://elit-oil.io.ua/files/0001/21/00012167.pdf

IIRC the original link presentation showed around 175 ppm to 200 ppm moly trimer to be very effective.

Multiply moly atoms by 3.22 in moly trimer to get moly trimer concentration.

So 57 ppm Mo in PPPP 0W-20 = 184 ppm moly trimer, which would be consistent with what I recall from the Infineum presentation.

The 249 ppm Mo atoms in QSUD 0W-20 would be 802 ppm moly trimer if it was moly trimer, a big giveaway in effectiveness, so this number indicates to me this is not moly in trimer (trinuclear) form.

I preferred the QSUD because it seemed to run a little quieter than the PP and was cheaper.. I did not buy either last time because of their leaky jugs and the levels of oil inside the jugs all looked slightly different.
Like i said before i prefer a more secure cap with an inner seal but thats just me..
