Oil was installed in late December and changed/sampled mid June. MPG was unchanged with the lower viscosity as was the butt dyno. Car sees a 22 mile commute one way that takes about 30 minutes, so mostly hwy. I used a 20wt to see how dependent these VQs are on viscosity and to also see how the mpg went. Car now has Rotella T3 10w30 with Auto RX at 2oz/qrt and is noticeably peppier and mpg over 3 tanks has been up by 3mpg. Fuel is still Shell VPower exclusively with no fuel adds or treatments. Oil filter was a Pure1 and air filter is now a K&N. TAN was tested this time at 3.6.

I got 3 gals on a WM 7$ blowout with the arrival of the T5 a few months back. We have a farm supply store a couple towns north of Denver that carry 10w30 T3, but its not cost effective at their price.

So how was the 5w-20 running? I didn't think anyone would even have the guts to think of putting a 20 weight in a VQ.

Ran no different than anything before it, better or worse. Doesnt seem to have exacerbated wear either.

Your car/habits seem to give pretty good results overall. About as good as Ive seen with the VQ. If you decide to take request I would love to see a 5,000 mile OCI on Mobil DC5000 5W30.

Nederlander,

Is this vehicle manual or CVT?

Either way this has got to be one peppy unit, I would think!

Nice looking results too by the way-Ive wanted to see a VQ on 20wt myself for a while now.

This is the 6 speed manual. Will actually run down the 350Z of its day, better gearing I guess.

Also will not outrun a 3.5SE 5 speed, I had a 2002, that car hauled serious ars!

We actually had a 3.5 SE 5 speed for about 2 years with the SER, SER would take it solidly after about 90 when wed road race em.
