My 1983 Chevrolet El Camino has the Saginaw powersteering pump, I went to change the fluid last nite, I was going to suck out the fluid, basically the trukey baster method.
Instead I just took off the lower powersteering hose, the non pressurized hose, or we can call it the return hose. I was able to drain out about 16 ounces of fluid.
I am wondering what the total capacity of fluid is for my powersteering system. I am guessing it is about a quart. I looked all over the net and could not find any answers.
I am thinking any remaining old fluid is in the powersteering box, how much I am not sure, if anyone can answer this question that would be great.
I went ahead and picked up two 16 ounce bottles of Amsoil PowerSteering Fluid.
