Wondering if there is such a device that will beep if power to an outlet is interupted?

Our chest freezer is connected to a GFIC outlet in the basement. Occassionally the circuit is tripped, and unless I happen to make it down to the basement I don't know it is tripped. Yesterday we were going fishing. I keep several bags of ice in the freezer and went to retrieve one. When I opened up the freezer the top layer of items were partially thawed. Noticed light wasn't on, reset GFIC and all was good.

If I had something that plugged into the outlet that would beep when power was off, I would most likely hear it upstairs and go down and reset it.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to easily fix the wiring problem instead. It's a good thing your outlet is working properly because I sure wouldn't want to stick my head into an electrified freezer.

My computer Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) shrieks a buzzer when power is lost.

Could you pick up one of those emergency lights that are used in public buildings? Just plug it in, aim the lights somewhere you can see them easily (or try to run an extension cord to somewhere you could see a light) and then when the outlet loses power, the emergency light will come on and let you know.
