A pair from the rail museum in North Judson, IN.
I believe so.Are you talking about the CSX A-line? If so, they've been there since the turn of the twentieth century. (as the Atlantic Coast Line road).
Lots of good railfanning in your area and just a bit further southwest into central GA. The CSX A-line is a main corridor for East Coast movement as well as Amtrak. If you can travel, Folkston , Cordele, and Waycross GA are places where you can see all kinds of cool stuff.I believe so.
I've always loved trains but only became serious about them when I got into N scale a couple of months ago.
Is that the one with the roundhouse? I think Hyce films there from time to time.
Definitely worth the trip, even for non railfans. Also, if you can work in the Royal Gorge trip out of Canon City take advantage of that. I wasn't sure what to expect but it held its own. Not sure if this engine is running. This was taken in October 2011 as well.I'm hoping to make it back to the bluegrass show in Telluride next year. We've thought about that excursion for years. I'd like to work it in one trip.
I've been through that rail yard many times on a commuter train.A couple of Amtrak's new Siemens locomotives, and a train of 45-year-old Superliner cars, leaving Chicago in a hurry.
If it lowers your blood pressure, go for it!I believe so.

No, I didn't see a roundhouse. This place has got to be an old warehouse that had rails going through it to unload and it was made into a museum. Is that the one with the roundhouse? I think Hyce films there from time to time.
DO NOT do round trip. Take the bus back or have someone pick you up in Silverton. Trust me. You spend 8 hours on a train for a car trip that's 2 hours. The return trip is horribly boring. Us locals (used to) sit on the patio of The Palace restaurant (now closed) and chuckle as travelers returned after round trip. Little kids screaming and adults have a distinct zombie look. You just sat 8 hours on an old school train.I'm hoping to make it back to the bluegrass show in Telluride next year. We've thought about that excursion for years. I'd like to work it in one trip.

The Cumbres Toltec is WAY better and I think prettier. Seriously.
Also we've had the driest winter in the 47 years I've been here. I very much doubt they'll be allowed to run coal, if that matters to you. 99.9% chance they'll run diesels. The train has this wee problem of starting gigantic wildfires.....
