post your latest transmission lubricant change.

I’m planning on leaving my next trans fluid change, with Redline D4 ATF, in my Tremec TR-6060 (6MT) on my 2010 Chevy Camaro SS coupe. I’ve been changing it like every 4-6k miles or so, just because of how problematic my clutch cylinders were being. It would snick and feel like grinding, but I have only grinded on cold start driving if I was in a rush; either that or driving the car hard once the trans fluid/temps were a bit beyond “normal” operating.

I’m at around 48k miles now or so, and plan to leave in the trans fluid for like at least 9-10k miles and then see how well it does. Back when I used to have a Honda Accord V6 manual (6MT), I would change the MTF pretty much with every engine oil change, or every OTHER oil change. Probably not totally necessary, but I used to beat the HELL out of my manual Honda’s and Acura’s….

I’ve tried a bunch of different transmission fluids in my Tremec manual transmissions. The only other car I’ve done so, is on a 2011 Ford Mustang GT coupe, with the Getrag MT-82. I also baby that car, but it’s had a lot more harder miles than my current Camaro SS. Granted, those transmissions are filled with Ford/Motorcraft DCT fluid from the factory. They really do well/better with full synthetic GL-4 75w-80 or 75w-85 though. I wouldn’t mind running 75w-90 (GL-4), but it seems to take a bit longer to warm up, and I don’t really drive these cars all that hard these days…
