post your latest transmission lubricant change.

About 20 quarts of ST Dexron VI through the 2014 ATS 6 speed, new filter, and all driveline fluids replaced last week.

Textbook execution, shifts like new 🤙🏻

Why aren't all transmissions that easy to service? Spill-and-fill for the win!
And one size oil filter... Just being logical again!

I love Hondas.
Never understood why most ATs are so messy to change. Why couldn’t they have done better like 65 years ago?!?

The issue with the Hondas is that there is no pan, so no place to contain wear materials.

A clean drain, spin on filter, and droppable pan, with a straightforward means of refill would be the best of all worlds. Too much to ask apparently.

You may have just realised what so many have failed to.
I imagine a filler, dipstick, sump with drainage plug at lowest point, and a spin on filter. 🤯

2017 Explorer with the 2.3 EB and 6F35 transmission. This transmission was rebuilt in 8-2024 locally. Failure was do to the poor quality parts Ford decided to use in the 2016-2019 version of this transmission, specially the torque convertor. I posted my saga here back in Sept 2024 with the many drain and fills I did. Today I cold drained 4.5 qts of Ford Mercon LV the re-builder used and replaced it with the same. The Mercon LV was a dark red but had no particles in it and the magnet was totally clean. The mileage was at 6853 on the fluid. I drained the original factory fill in 2017 at 10,000 miles and it was black with lots of silver looking particles in it. And the magnet was loaded with metal. What a difference between the first fluid change with the rebuilt transmission and the factory fluid, so much better with the rebuilt transmission. I understand Ford Mercon LV darkens considerably more than other ATF's but doesn't indicate that it's not usable.

Yeah, the first time you pull the pan, even at low miles, it's a bit of a horror show. Well done keeping her clean and rebuilding to solve the issue.

They each got a drain and fill. I have a scan tool with transmission temperature so I know the amount of fluid is correct. I do the trans fluid every 2 years it’s around 30k each drain.

Wife's 2017 Acura MDX 163000km. First time changing the 9 speed ZF transmission oil, DIY. Bought it when it was, 83000km used and I presume one transmission service was done before our purchase. I didn't bother doing the way the manual calls for, such as taking transmission temperature after refilling and opening the overfill plug, etc. I did good old replacing whatever I took out, I put back in. Didn't change the two plugs to new ones, either. Old plugs looked fine and didn't leak after torquing down to spec.
Also did transfer case gear oil change which is piece of cake since I had 09 MDX and have 12 TL with same set up for the transfer case.
Bought 5 x 1L ATF oil on FB marketplace for $100 which is a steal of a deal for Acura/Honda 3.1 ATF. This ZF ATF feels like water consistency compared to conventional DW-1 ATF.

I did a fluid exchange on my beater 2002 Sunfire with the 4 speed auto. Its 270,000 km +.

Seeing as it seemed to shift fine and it's a low cost beater, I was not going to do a pan drop and filter change. Just not worth the hassle.

I couldn't find exactly which cooler line was input or output from the rad so...... the top line was the easiest to disconnect. I made a drop cloth in case I made the wrong choice.

I hooked up some rubber line and ran it to the drain pan to watch. I started the engine and got about 5 litres out. I dumped in 5 litres and pumped it out again but she was running clean at that point. She took a solid 5 litres and lost a bit checking the level plug.

The old fluid did not smell burnt but was quite dark, no hint of red. In went generic Dex/Merc.

2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/6L80. Just completed the 2nd drain & fill using my Mityvac. I did one a week ago with AC Delco Dex-VI. This D&F I used one quart of the Delco fluid I had left and 4 quarts of Valvoline Dex-VI.

I’m almost certain these were the first fluid changes that my company truck has received, and after the first change I noticed an immediate improvement in shifting.
