First change on my new to me Champion Inverter Generator model 100809. Ran it for 5 hours for the break in, and changed the oil.

Out: .5 quarts factory supplied oil (10W-30)
In .5 quarts Amsoil Small Engine oil (10W-30)

Changed the oil in my Craftsman T3200/3000 riding mower. Looking back on this site, I changed it last April 2021, used Co-op DMO CK4 semi synthetic 10w30 with Fram Toughguard. It saw little use that year and maybe 50 hours since.

In went the same oil and a US made Wix that crossed with the 3614.

It sees less than an hour per week but I rather use it then let it sit.

Did the oil on my parents AYP built Poulan rear tine tiller, B&S 850 series single cylinder. Out was unknown, darker oil with some grey. No one knew the service history.

In went Co-op DMO semi synthetic 10w30 CK4 oil.

I'll check it yearly but likely take many years before it has enough hours to need a change again.

That has the GXV160 commercial engine. With regular oil changes it will last a long time.

Yup. Once a year oil changes for my mowers. Should last me until I'm dead and then some. Which is my plan.

Have you found a good way to dump the oil on those? I have one. Kind of a pain to tip the mower on its side. To keep the oil drain pan from scooting away, I have to put some things down so it can push up against a wall. I have the HRN version though with the GCV170.

Not really. I just turn it on its side. I just use a little cup that holds 16 oz. I lean the mower on its side but not completely on the ground and let the majority of it come out. Then I put it back and empty the cup and then lay the mower on its side completely and let her rest drain out for 10 minutes or so.

I use the extractor pump I use for the Mercedes. Put the non-fill side on a 2" board and I extract through the fill port until it makes slurp noise. Easy and clean.

Changed the oil on the saved from the scrapper 1996 MTD tractor shaped mower. Out unknown black nastiness, in 1.5 qts Chevron Supreme 30.

VRP in my '95 BS 14.5 for about 5 tanks of gas now. Blue puff on cold start up gone. Is it working, time will tell. It was worse in winter so we'll see when we get there. It has been of a full synth. oil all its life with regular changes also.

There is a difference. Both the Royal Purple SAE 30 HD straight weight and the current Red Line 10W-40 caused less bog down in the heavier grass areas of our lawn. Before, using stock Honda 10W-30 oil that Honda sells for this commercial GXV160 engine the engine would slow to the point of having to stop and let the engine catch up with the mulching load. Same RPM and self-propel speed with the The Royal Purple straight 30 and the most recent Red Line 10W-40, the engine bog down is gone. I can only guess the better-quality oils are somehow giving a stronger piston ring seal allowing for a little more torque or power. The difference is real, not imagined for some reason. The Royal Purple SAE 30 HD does use their special Synerlec magic potion, which they only use in certain lubes they sell, and in none of their API rated oils. The Red Line is a mix of Group 4 and 5 base stocks, not 3 or 3+ with higher anti-wear additives, moly, zinc,etc. than most other brands. I figured what the hell, I do my own mower maintenance when I can. These two engine oils really did make it mulch the grass easier with the same speed and engine RPM throttle settings. Amazing, I will never go back. I am guessing it is possible the Amsoil guys here that use the Amsoil "small engine oil" could tell a similar story, but I don't know. I have never used the Amsoil.
