Post your latest small engine oil change

Same method for Kohler Command engines.

"Unthread and remove the oil fill cap/dipstick; wipe
oil off. Reinsert the dipstick into the tube and rest
the oil fill cap on the tube. Do not thread the cap
onto the tube. See Figure 6"

Seriously? This one too?!? I would have though leaving the stick unscrewed would lead to greater variability vs screwing it in all the way.

Thunderstorms blew through Friday night, and we caught the edge of it. Heard some big gusts of wind since we had the windows open, followed by some loud crashing noises. Uh oh, branches are falling. Very paranoid since a tree fell on my truck last fall, even though we had the tree trimmers come through. Went to move my truck, and realized we've lost power. A quick look around the yard, and no branches down.

Saturday morning, still no power. Turns out a large tree at the end of the street took out the power lines and a power pole, so the whole street was out. Ohio Edison map is showing large areas of power outages with no estimate on when they will be restored. Okay! Hooked up the generator around 7 AM Saturday, and finally, around 6:00 today the power was restored.

Predator 9000 generator, about 45 hours (had some hours on it already) Rotella T5 10W-30.

DR AT walker brush hog with 11hp Briggs motor. I realized I didn't shut off fuel last season and motor was full of fuel/oil mix. Drained the mix, dumped some oil in it to move around without starting it, dumped it again and refilled with 15W-40. Cleaned the float and did valve adjustment, now purrs like a kitten.

I happen to have a couple mowers where you have to tip them over to change the oil. I'm not a big fan as there's alway a mess to clean up. So a week ago my neighbor got a hold of 2 Harbor Freight suction pumps. The manual hand pump type, and he gifted me one. So I figured I'd give it a try. I did 2 of my 4 mowers with it. It worked better than I would have expected. And only took a few minutes each. You need to have the discharge hose in a can or bucket to minimize the splaching. Did both mowers and filled them with Fram brand 10w40 blended oil. They're both over 10 years old, and really don't use enough oil to mention.,,

An empty oil jug or washer bottle jug works great!

4 HP Briggs from 2002. I got this pressure washer for $7 at auction and threw a $35 pump on it, runs like a champ.

Last season, I ran 5w30 and it burned a pretty good amount of oil. This season, I’m running a 15w40, yet to burn a drop.

Out: a mix of Pennzoil and Valvoline 5w30
In: ST 15w40 Full Synthetic

Edit: I should add, capacity unknown. I just drain then add until the dipstick reads full.

I either pump into an old TruFuel can or use a plastic paint roller pan with the tip method.
