Post your latest oil change

I distinctly remember that when I scanned mine for available pids it was reporting no oil temp. Yet I got the cvvt temp option once I got the plugin.

If your engine is in the list above, I'd give torque pro + plugin a shot. It's old and stuck in time, but is great for dashboards.

It can be personalized in plenty of ways, including start with the vehicle, all the way to inverted view if you want to project it to a HUD. Works with BT and Wi-Fi dongles, etc.
No, “ (OS) Kona “

2016 Mazda 6. 2.5L 138,700 miles. 11k OCI 🤣🙄. Dumped whatever the local Ford dealer put in and replaced with GTX high mileage synblend with a carquest red filter. Set the oil reminder as it was turned off. 4000 miles I’ll see it again. Drain plug wouldn’t budge, not factory plug. Couldn’t get it to budge and rounded it a bit (Dorman). Had to pound a socket onto it and then hit the end of the ratchet with my hand a few times to get it to move. Peeled out some black rubber gasket and ran to AA for a new factory style plug. Plug was leaking when I removed the access cover. Still can’t understand why oil monkeys have to tighten everything with a 1/2 breaker bar.

I had the same situation yesterday with the neighbor's Town Car. Torque spec for the plug is 10 lb ft but I couldn't get it off with a 1/2" breaker. After 5 min i threw in the towel and used the MityVac clone. I alsobcant figure out why these apes feel the need to crank the plugs so tight...

Well, it was updated at some point in 2 years.

2026 XC40. One of the last early oil changes, just shy of 3k miles on oil, just shy of 6k miles on engine. Castrol Euro M out and in, no filter change this time. Feels nice to whittle down the oil stash

I know there’s a separate thread on this somewhere, but this is how red the oil is coming out with low miles. It looked kind of red while draining, really shows up in the sun on the lip of the waste oil container at work.

My mechanic was done with my TL but didnt have time to pick it up today.

Just under a 5k interval of mostly highway miles. Car is around 323K. (Took it last week for transmission fluid and cartridge filter change at this trans shop my mechanic trusts. He's done it twice on this car before but for some reason didnt want to do it this time.)

Out Carquest Premium and Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30.

In STP XL and Amsoil High Mileage 5w30 (that I was given by GON for the steak challenge).

2016 Hyundai Elantra 1.8L with 155k miles
OCI was only 3269 miles and 209 hours (about half of my usual OCI)

Out: Napa syn-blend 5W-20 and Champ PH2808

In: Napa syn-blend 10W-40 and Champ PH2808

4 quarts oil and 10oz Hot Shot's stiction eliminator

2025 Nissan Sentra 2.0L with 13k miles
OCI was 3817 miles and 158 hours

Out: Valvoline hybrid 0W-20 and Fram FD6607

In: Valvoline hybrid 0W-20 and Carquest premium 84356

4 quarts oil and 12oz of Hot Shot's stiction eliminator

Both of the above were my winter OCIs and were done back in April. Just now getting around to posting lol. Now it's August and both cars have well over 3k on current OCI but will continue into the fall before I service them again.

I've used the stiction eliminator since 80k (in the Elantra) and will continue to use it until I switch to VRP, Amsoil or HPL. For the first couple OCIs, the filters had lots of carbon in them. I've used it continuously as maintenance ever since.

You burning any oil on the Elantra? Thinking about the move to 10W-40 on my 2013 Elantra myself. Interesting on the use of the sticking eliminator.

No not a bit. It remains full throughout every OCI. Mostly I've run 6-7k per OCI with the blend and additive. I stocked up on the Napa blend oil when they had sales for a few years, getting a mix of 20, 30 and 40 grades. Getting low on 5W-30 and 5W-20 but have plenty of the 10W-40 left as I use it for summer only.

The Elantra gets idled a lot of hours, too. A typical OCI has been close to 7k miles and 400+ hours since I bought it at 15k. It's used to transport my parents for both their appointments and just taking them along for the ride regularly. We have to keep them comfortable so it's idled regularly year round.

This is one situation where EVs shine. Sitting for long periods of time running an ICE just to keep the heater/AC going isn’t exactly the best thing for an engine. But with an EV that type of usage is a walk in the park.

My tour company has a Kia EV9 for transportation for winery tours, airport runs and other tours and needs to often sit for very long periods of time with the heat/AC going so that the interior is a perfect temperature. And even if it’s sitting for an hour with the AC running the battery % usually only drops one or two percent. I would cringe if I were sitting idling an ICE for an hour, all of the fuel being used, all the stress on the cooling system, plus the possibility of extra fuel getting into the oil.
