Post your latest oil change

Looking forward to hearing how this goes for people. Do you burn oil?
Doesn't burn a drop and it had religious, and I mean hasn't missed a single one, oil changes every 5k miles at the dealership prior to us owning it.

I'll be real honest, shopping with my 4 boys is.... taxing soemtimes and I just grabbed the 1st 2 jugs of mobil 1 5w30 I saw 😅

I think it's a good idea to clean it out and see what you get after a lifetime on dealer bulk oil.

I'm impressed you change your own oil with 4 boys! Hopefully they can help you out eventually. 😃

I had to get my oldest (10) to help with the skid plates, the 8 year old is getting over a sickness so he stayed inside, my 4 and 3 year olds were "helping" or "working on" their stuff with a ratchet ❤️

They'll remember that time with you in the garage forever. Speaking as a son who spent a lot of time with my dad in the garage "helping." ❤️

2015 Toyota Avalon, 35k miles on the car, 4k on the oil.
Out with whatever the dealer had in there, in with 6.4 qts of Valvoline Hybrid 0W-20.
Surprisingly it had the Toyota aluminum filter housing on it.
Was so tight that I broke the ratchet extension trying to get it off with a MotivX filter wrench.. Luckily I was able to use a socket on the MotivX to pop it loose.
Can’t tell what filter was in there, but replaced with a Toyota filter element. Old filter had a bit of a ripple to it, but overall looked ok.
Here’s what’s left on my no name extension.

Any reason you're not running Valvoline Restore and Protect?
I probably won't run Valvoline Restore and Protect in it. The engine runs well and the oil consumption is about the same as it was years ago; most of it gets sucked through the PCV especially with highway driving, so I doubt Valvoline Restore and Protect would make much difference. Besides, the rest of the car is getting long in the tooth so I don't expect to have it more than another year.

Mileage: 231,340
OCI: 4K
Out: Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5W-30, Toyota 90915-YZZD3 filter
In: Quaker State Ultimate Protection 5W-30, Pennzoil PZ-21 oil filter (basically Purolator tech)

Kinda late to this one, I did this last week for no particular reason other than I was bored and wanted to use up the Quaker State Ultimate Protection I managed to get before it completely sold out on Walmart.

Coulda run the EP much longer🤷‍♂️

2013 Toyota Camry SE (2.4 liter, 4 cylinder), 90,110 miles total, 4,697 mile OCI

Out: 0w-20 Pennzoil Platinum, unknown oil filter, too many foot-lbs of torque to count
In: 0w-20 Valvoline Restore and Protect, PurolatorBOSS oil filter, Votex magnetic drain plug + Votex crush washer

My wife bought this Camry new and uses it as a daily commuter, about 90% interstate driving. No issues with the vehicle, it's been a reliable workhorse. No measurable oil consumption, though it has had a history of very cheap fuel run through it. I've started filling up with Top Tier+ regular fuel at Costco for my wife and will likely be running Techron or Amsoil P.I. through it at least once per OCI.

I changed oil back at the end of February and had an extra sample container to catch used oil mid-drain, but no pre-paid mailer or packaging to send it to Blackstone. For some reason it took a few weeks to get one sent out to me, so I only recently was able to send the sample in and receive these results back.

This is the first oil change I've performed myself on my wife's 2013 Camry. It was previously changed every ~5k miles at Firestone Complete Auto Care. They supposedly put in 0w-20 Pennzoil Platinum. I'm not sure what brand of oil filter they used.

Firestone torqued the hell out of both the original drain plug and the oil filter canister. I was wanting to put in a magnetic drain plug anyway, so I took the opportunity to buy and install a new Votex neodymium drain plug and a matching Votex crush washer. I also bought a new OEM Toyota black plastic canister that I'm going to use at the next OCI (didn't arrive in time for this one, unfortunately). Thankfully Firestone didn't cross-thread either one or visibly damage the threads as far as I could see. Way too many ugga duggas though.

Now that I'm doing oil changes myself, I'm putting 0w-20 Valvoline Restore and Protect in it and plan to keep doing so for the life of the vehicle. I put in a PurolatorBOSS filter this time, and will probably switch over to OEM Toyota filters going forward. I plan to change and do used oil analysis every 5k miles from here on out.

Next up: I'll be doing a transmission drain and fill with full synthetic Idemitsu TLS-LV (WS compatible) as it's overdue. I'll be doing a used oil analysis on the drained ATF, and will also do a VOA + TAN on the new Idemitsu TLS-LV to share on the forums as I don't see it in the ATF library here.

Love the bright yellow Pennzoil filter!

I'd be having a word with the service manager at the dealership. That's a mess.

When I took a filter off my mechanic put on so tight I nearly had to put a screwdriver through it, I definitely called and let them know. He apologized, said he knew exactly who did it, and that they had already fired him. When I put my own filter on, I can take it off by hand.

Please switch to Polaris (bought through AMSOIL easiest) or Wearcheck (bought through HPL). Don't waste your money with Blackstone. Too many errors, no oxidation, and no gas chromatography for fuel dilution. You get all that for less with Polaris.

I also think it's really overkill to check a used oil analysis every oil change. Not sure that is necessary.

IME 2 and 4 year old girls will stay and hand you tools. 3 and 4 year old boys tend to wander off with tools and you may find them in grass, under another car, in the house, sandbox......

Bought it at a dealer in Chicago who had acquired it from Kansas. I’ll never go back as they were an Acura dealer. Car was like new though and I’m hoping the kids get many years of use out of it. Whoever was responsible for the filter housing, definitely ate their Wheaties that day.
