I broke down and changed the oil in my new Ridgeline today. I couldn’t stand it anymore.

Out 5.7 quarts of dealership bulk Valvoline and an OEM Honda filter

In 5.7 quarts Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 and an OEM Honda filter

Only 1200mi, but the oil was actually pretty black, because of all the short trips I change the oil every 6mos regardless now.

How's the ecotec running any oil usage or chain rattle on startup

How's the ecotec running any oil usage or chain rattle on startup

It may burn a quart about every 1000-1500mi or so, I can't tell if there's noise from the chain or vibration from bad mounts or the exhaust has rusted through in a spot again, but it definitely makes some noise and has some degrees of vibration.

Mine use about the same amount of oil I did notice less usage using Valvoline Conventional 10w30 it's not a blend. I had the occasional chain rattle at startup but for some reason not lately. Mine is a little bit noisy exhaust leak from the flex pipe but I'm ignoring

2.4s are also prone to exhaust manifold breakage, but I've seen some with no noise, all while the manifold was basically busted in half.

2012 Honda Civic EX - R18Z1 - 5-Speed & 3 pedals. My 17 year old daughter's car. Changed it 1000 miles early so I don't have to do it when the weather sucks. This completes migrating all four of my vehicles to Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30.

I had to use a 12” ratchet and put all I had into it to break the drain bolt loose. The oil smelled like straight gas!
Here’s the kicker, this crush washer still has black paint on it! The car has 63k miles on it. The crush washer has never been replaced in all that time!

2013 Ford Focus. 141,488 mi/4,470 mi OCI...6 mos-ish...my son's car. He autocrosses it and we were going to swap his summer autocross tires for his winter tires (winter here means all seasons) due to below-feezing temps forecasted this week so knocked out an oil change as well. This car started having some minor consumption about a year ago. It's gone best I can tell after this first run of Valvoline Restore and Protect. I'm a believer and will continue using it in this car going forward.

Out. 4.5 qts Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W20 + Fram Endurance filter.

In. 4.5 qts Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W20 + Motorcraft filter + Gumout Regain.

Car has been mine since new and had most of its life on Motorcraft syn blend 5W20 and Motorcraft filters with an average of 5K OCIs.

It's nice that the filter is at the bottom instead of the front of the engine, next to the hot exhaust headers!

I ditched Fram after seeing all the QC issues in the filter sub-forum. Both vehicles are on the last of my Polish made Hengst filters. They will be switched to Denso FTF next year. Oh, and I finally replaced the factory crush washer on the Corolla after four OCIs

My older 2004 Escalade EXT with 6.0 LQ9, 184K miles, 5000 miles on oil and filter. Out with Mobil 1 5W-40 Euro, and Parts Plus PH59EX. In with Chevron Delo XSP 5W-40 (diesel oil, from AAP clearance), and Carquest R85522 (from Rock Auto clearance).

That Delo is also SN+ so a dual rated oil. I'm running it in my little GMC Canyon. Good stuff.
