Why not run both cars on AmsoilToday, HAH 128K car, a little over 7K oil and filter, run since April.
Out: Amsoil SB 0W-20, P1 filter.
In: same.
I got a sample of the drain as well as the one before of this oil which I need to send off.

A more pertinent question might be why run anything special in either car?Why not run both cars on Amsoil

Changed out the Castrol GTX 5W-20 syn blend. Used up my quart containers of HPL HDMO CC 5W-40 (6.5qts) & instead of opening a new gallon container decided to use the last 1/2qt (ish) from an open HPL PCMO 5W-40. Reused the motorcraft filter since it only had 90mi on it.Latest oil change was yesterday & a mistake.
Dropped my F150 off at a friends shop to get the rear power window replaced(leaked & shorted the electronics). While there his service writer had checked the box in their service program to change the oil. They dumped 7qts of HPL PCMO 5w-40 and removed the Micro Guard Select filter that had 2-3k miles on them & poured in 7qts of Castrol GTX 5w-20 syn blend with a motorcraft filter. Called my friend this afternoon about it. He apologized profusely & offered to credit back my card, special order HPL & do another oil change or whatever credit I'd like. Told him to just give me a free service on my FIL 2020 Mustang GT & call it even (I have more HPL at home anyway).
Fuel dilution was 6%. I guess that’s to be expected for a Di engine even with 70% highway. The viscosity @100C was out of grade @12.1, partly from the fuel and the rest from VII shear. 40C was 78.4 which would be good for a 10w30. I tried 10w40 pcmo in a LML duramax 11 years ago and it sheared down about the same with no fuel dilution, so who knows? You get what you pay for, and conventional 10w40s are famous for ending up out of grade at drain time.2022 Acadia 3.6L, 44,200 kms on car, 13,600 on oil. Oil life 1% left. No oil added between oil changes, down 1/2L.
Out; 10W40 GTX API SP.
In Duron 10W30 UHP synthetic.
I took a sample of the GTX for a used oil analysis. The fuel dilution will be interesting.
What oil filter was used with that OCI/UOA? The oil filter's efficiency should be reflected in the PC.They did partial counts: 4u 33,530, 6u 3,613 21u 4. 22/10/12 total, but we don’t know how clean the new oil was.
Me so bad…. PH 12750.What oil filter was used with that OCI/UOA? The oil filter's efficiency should be reflected in the PC.
I've switch to using Carquest Premiums (only available at Advance Auto Parts) or MicroGard Select (only available at O'Reilly's) filters. The new Mobil 1 (center tube with holes, not louvers) at Walmart is pretty good too, but it's 99% @ 30u if efficiency isn't at the top of the requirements list. The Fram PH is about at that same 99% @ 30u efficiency level. If you want more oil filter knowledge, go hang out in the Oil Filter forum ... lots of info there.Me so bad…. PH 12750.
The cheapest and holds the most oil.
I’ve never taken much interest in filters.
What would you suggest?
It's nice to see someone brave enough to go past 5k with Valvoline Restore and Protect. Hopefully you will post a used oil analysis after the 10k run.Average mpg for this OCI was 46.8. This oil had about 8000 miles on it oil countdown reads 2100 left trying to get it synced with the odometer total miles on vehicle
Likely . I do not consider 10K a very challenging run in my driving circumstances climate and with this vehicle. With any sp or sq synthetic. It's nice to see someone brave enough to go past 5k with Valvoline Restore and Protect. Hopefully you will post a used oil analysis after the 10k run.
I'll be doing about 6k on my wife's CRV. MM is at 20% now and she has about 5500 miles. I figure 6k is a good round number. I think 7500 is where the MM will hit 0%. For the next 3 OCIs, I will probably do the same at 6k.It's nice to see someone brave enough to go past 5k with Valvoline Restore and Protect.
