Freed up a lot of space on the oil shelf. Didn't want to waste that $6.50 jug of Amazon Basics and the two half quarts that go back to the Venza. I'm guessing 0w-33.33.

2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, 42867 miles. Last oil change on 03May2024 at 38283 miles. Miles on oil = 4584.

1. Out: Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5W-20 plus 300 mL LiquiMoly MoS2 and Pennzoil HPZ-37 Platinum oil filter.
2. In: Mobil 1 Euro ESP 0W-30 plus 300 mL LiquiMoly MoS2 and Fram Ultra XG7317 oil filter.
3. Extra: Replaced front stabilizer bushings with Subaru 20414SG001 bushings; sprayed Fluid Film on select underchassis components with minor surface oxidation.

2021 Crosstrek Sport, 48410 miles. Last oil change on 27Sep2024 at 42867 miles. Miles on oil = 5536

1. Out: Mobil 1 Euro ESP 0W-30 plus 300 mL LiquiMoly MoS2 and Fram Ultra XG7317 oil filter.
2. In: Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5W-30 and Fram Ultra XG7317 oil filter
3. Extra: Performed a drain and fill of CVT fluid; used Subaru CVTF-III fluid. Drained ~4.8 quarts and used ~5.2 quarts including spill to a trickle at 95 deg F, and some minimal wastage. In summary, I believe the originl factory fill volume was perfect. Fluid that drained appeared clean, but teal/greenish (closer to CVTF-II color) rather than the CVTF-III blue.

Out .. Guessing BMW 0w20 or whatever the BMW dealer used. It was really thin.
In .. Castrol Edge Euro 5w30 and Mann dealer .. 0w40 next time

Overall was the first change but not hard at all. Ran LiquiMoly engine flush for 10 minutes before change. Kinda difficult to reach the filter etc with it on ramps.

Kept the Fram Ultra 10060 in place.

Here are pics of the Castrol. When I keep the filter on, I pour a half liter out of the 5 liter jug and dump the rest into the engine. The level works out well. The 1/2 liter goes into my Yuckaflux jug to use in my lawnmower or BIL’s car.

The Castrol was blended in Canada. Bonus.
