This truck is a lease so I'm doing the 0w-20 until I decide if I'm going to keep it. It is the 5.3, but what is good for the goose (6.2) is good for the gander (5.3)?
Good question. I don’t know the answer unfortunately.

Also, good call on doing your own oil changes if you’re on the fence for the end of the lease keeping it or not.

Mileage : 203,263
OCI : N/A
Out : 4.5 qts of 0W-20 dealer oil
In : 4.5 qts of Valvoline R&P 5W-30 , Premium Guard PG4612 (left in from dealer oil change)

We'll see how this R&P does .
Oil dipstick is stained.

Brake cleaner will clear that dipstick right quick!

I don't know how much experience you have with the Odyssey's quirks, but but keep an eye on the spool valve.

Keep us up to date on your cleaning journey. Looks like the perfect candidate for a varnish clean up test with R&P!

Honda Odyssey just doing Odyssey things with the varnish 😂

My father in law has had 3. 2005 w/ 300k, 2011 w/ 200k+ and a 2018 w/ 100k. In the first two he used Castrol in different flavors for 3-5k OCI’s and they were golden inside from the varnish. But never used any oil so the engine didn’t seem to care. The current one I haven’t look inside yet but will on the next oil change.

They are a perfect candidate for R&P. Keep use posted on your progress!
 
@RyanY - Thanks for the heads up on the spool valve... looks like they installed a new alternator previously.
The original alternator could have died because of old age at 200k+ miles but the spool valve is known to expedite that failure. If they didn't replace it, it would be good to do it asap. Use the OE Honda part ($$$) if you want a solid repair. Aftermarket spool valves/gaskets are iffy (I used Mahle gaskets the first time and they only lasted 10k miles before they leaked).
