OCI: 4,298 miles

Just completed the second OCI of Valvoline Restore and Protect and beginning the third. This engine seems to like the oil. I might be imagining things, but it seems just a little bit quieter than it used to be.

My 11yo stepson ended up doing most of the work while I watched. :) I even got my 9yo stepdaughter to come outside and learn a couple of things. Success!
Awesome seeing folks like you getting the kids involved and teaching skills like this to the next generation. The younger you teach them, the better IMHO.

Nephew's 2022 Escape 1.5L EcoBoost with 62,037 miles
11,266 miles on this change

Out: QS Full Synthetic 5w30 & FL-910S
In: Kirkland 5W30 & Carquest Premium 85348

Was told there was some makeup oil put in at some point. Kid spent the winter playing hockey in Canada (Wellington) and waited till he got home so his uncle could change it🙄. Didn't smell like fuel at least.

Also try Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 as a comparison to the Valvoline 0W20 EP . While the Mobil 1 Extended Performance is an extended drain oil (the Valvoline is not) run both for up to a 5K mile OCI and see which you like better ? Both are two of the better off the shelf oils at WM.

I'd be more concerned with sudden coolant loss. Unless Ford has addressed the issue, it isn't uncommon for the 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 Ecoboost engines to have failed cylinder liners which result in coolant seeping into the cylinders. He's in the mileage range for this failure. That's an engine replacement.

I believe that is a completely different 1.5L that has the cylinder liner failures. The 2022 Escape would have the 1.5L 3 cylinder.
