Changed oil in my 18 Legacy a few weeks late but like 21 miles over what I was aiming for. I know, I know... Not a big deal.
65,443 miles on car. 78k/month Service Interval.
6,021 miles on OC.
Out/Off: ~4.5qts of M1 EP 0W-20 D1G2 and Wix 57055
In/On: 5qts of M1 EP 0W-20 D1G2 (Have one more jug of this before I get to the D1G3 jugs), ~1/3qt of HPL Premium 0W-20 and Wix 57055. I only have 3qt of the HPL so at this point, I'm using it as top of oil until all of my current stash of M1 and VRP are gone.
Had major corrosion on the positive battery terminal, blue and white. Battery is a 6 year old Subaru replacement battery. The corrosion has been there a while and I'm surprised they never mentioned anything to be about it. I took both terminals off cleaned and put those pads down. It took me a good while to get the positive terminal off. I kept spraying and spraying. Ended up using a wrench to knock is look. Went through a whole can of cleaner (it wasn't that big of a can) and it still didn't remove all the corrosion. I used a screw driver to clean up as much as I could and put back on. Hoping this solves the corrosion issue going forward. I have some stuff to put on the terminals to help prevent the corrosion but I have the CTEK on there now so I will put on after I take it off.
I didn't pay for the battery. It was replaced at 6 months under warranty. I'm not sure I would be eligible for the prorated price of a replacement but to be honest, I would rather put something else in like an Odyssey, Interstate or Redtop. The Legacy uses the group 25 size but the Odyssey is out of stock in that size and I don't see an Interstate available. I'm looking to change it to the group 34 size, which I hear can fit fine. Hoping this cleaning up and using the CTEK will help increase the life of the battery for a little while longer.
